I always had this funny scenario in my head where Goku and Krillin would do better than Vegeta on a written/reading test because they were taught by Roshi, whereas Vegeta would have no clue how Earth writing/reading works lol
Tim Duncan is dope and forever.

I found a interview with Mr. Morishita, talking about animation process and his involvement with the dragon ball anime.

Herms will surely tackle it but, in the meantime, I can point out some stuff of interest.

- He joined Dragon Ball around the time Piccolo Daimaou appeared.

- Dragon Ball reached a point where they could make a natural division and they decided to change the title and treat it as a new show. Toriyama decided on "Z" and the staff went with it. Morishita thinks it was a very good idea because it both symbolizes the end of a chapter and the beginning of a new one, since "A" comes after. DBZ was so successful that lots of products would put a "Z" at the end of their names, like Momoiro Clover.

- Toriyama was the one to decide on "DBGT", which Morishita doesn't really remember the meaning but he thinks it stands for "Grand Touring", and "Kami to Kami".

- Both the staff and Weekly Jump's Kondou decided on the 80~90's movies' titles. It was hard coming up with both the names and story but, on the other hand, thinking on cool titles like "The world's Strongest Guy" and "Clash!! 10,000,000,000 Powerful Warriors" was like half the story was already done. They looked for ideas on sports' papers and the like. Making the series and two movies a year felt like they had no time to rest.

- They'd think on how to better portray Goku's coolness and charm because kids that tune in just to see him wouldn't be satisfied otherwise. The real test on their skills was how to keep the tension going when Goku had yet to appear or wouldn't appear at all due to story developments. Usually, episodes where Goku didn't appear had lower ratings.

- Morishita thinks Goku's biggest appeal was his leadership because, even though he doesn't look like a leader, everyone ended up counting on him.

He then talks about how CG is evolving and that the time where even characters in manga panels can move around will soon come. His dream is to make a full CG Dragon Ball movie and have it screened all over the world (especially in the United States) and he thinks his mission is to have future generations regard Dragon Ball in the same way Hollywood blockbusters are.

Goku is being pushed around but he discovers a way of winning. He doesn't switch with Vegeta because he wants a one-on-one fight but, at that point, there's a change in Golden Freeza. <- this doesn't mean he transforms or whatever, just that something is happening with him, probably running out of stamina.

Episode 27 "Earth explodes!? A conclusive Kamehame Ha"

Vegeta is going to deal the last blow but Freeza destroys the Earth. Are Goku and the others doomed?

The first half of the text says Goku discovers a way to win. That's probably realizing that Freeza's stamina is dropping. Freeza actually running out of stamina probably shouldn't happen until the next episode while he's facing Vegeta though..? So I'm wondering if the change isn't the "Angry" Golden Freeza option from Heroes.

That's a great goal and all, but CG movie is more likely to damage the franchise rather than make it a Hollywood classic. It just doesn't work, it would require a miracle to find a 3d CD art-style that would somehow suit Dragon Ball, yet look realistic and whatnot. With the kind of budget modern CG flicks require ($50-100+ million), they may as well chip in a bit more and make a proper live-action movie

In the movie his ki begins dropping while he's still fighting Goku, and Goku realizes what's going to happen even earlier.

Oh great...Now it's just a matter of time until YouTube gets flooded with videos saying "NEW DRAGON BALL SUPER 2016 MOVIE WILL HAVE FULL CG ANIMATION" with a CGI SSGSS Vegetto fighting an ugly CGI SSGSS4 Broly as the thumbnail. It is bound to happen

Considering it's only a brief summary and containing info on both episodes I wouldn't read too much into it. We still had Whis telling Goku about his weakness and Sorbet is alive after all too if they were skipping it I'm pretty sure he would have died a long time ago.

The cg movie is more a personal dream of his than something Toei would actually greenlight anytime soon. I mean, the recent DBZ movies did great, while their CG efforts (Harlock, Saint Seiya) clearly had bigger budgets than traditional animation but the performances were very lackluster. That's why he says the American market would be essential if a cg DB is ever done. Japan would likely receive it poorly.

Which doesn't mean the same thing will happen, at all.

I'd be down for a CG animated Dragon Ball movie. I think it would work. If Astro Boy can be turned into a CG animated film then Dragon Ball can sure as hell be turned into one. We have seen CG Dragon Ball in the past, such as some of the video game openings. The best one out of all of them would be Raging Blast 2's opening. It looked really good:
If a CG Dragon Ball film looked like this then I'd be happy.

A CG movie would look really good if it had a high budget and skilled staff with enough time to work on it.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

With the way CG is right now in Japan this would be an awful idea. But if CG was used to emulate the 2D style, I think it could definetley work. Something like the new Guilty Gear videogame, where the 3D models were just the sprites from the previous games, only rendered in all 3 planes, not just 2D.

Example: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eOpJ10YEiwI in case what I said was not clear. All those are 3D models.
