Why Does Super Have Different Sound Effects?
Why Does Super Have Different Sound Effects?
From the SSJ aura to the sound of the Kamehameha being fired, the sound effects in Dragon Ball Super are clearly different... but why? They were the same all throughout DB and DBZ. The sounds in Dragon Ball are so iconic for me that I'm having a hard time liking the battles in Super due to the sound effects alone.

I believe the theory is that Arai is too busy working on One Piece to handle another long-running show.

Arai Hidenori, who had done the sound effects up until Dragon Ball Super, is busy working on other commitments. Arai is an employee of Fizz Sound. The sound effects for Dragon Ball Super are done by another employee of Fizz Sound, Nishimura Mutsuhiro.Hero wrote:From the SSJ aura to the sound of the Kamehameha being fired, the sound effects in Dragon Ball Super are clearly different... but why? Re: Why Does Super Have Different Sound Effects?
Is there a reason that Toei can't use the sound effects already made by Arai? (I assume that they as the large company would have the rights to them). And any word if Arai is coming back?JulieYBM wrote:Arai Hidenori, who had done the sound effects up until Dragon Ball Super, is busy working on other commitments. Arai is an employee of Fizz Sound. It may be considered bad form to re-use his effects without him at the helm. It's also potentially rude to hire a sound effects guy only to have him simply placing others' effects and not his own. It could very well be that they don't have the rights to his sound effects, either. That or production staff simply wanted something new.
Re: Why Does Super Have Different Sound Effects?
I like OP, but please One Piece has over 400 episodes already just end the damn show and focus on Super.
Re: Why Does Super Have Different Sound Effects?
725 to be exact which is 25 more then Dragon Ball's total count.shinmaru wrote:I like OP, but please One Piece has over 400 episodes already just end the damn show and focus on Super.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Re: Why Does Super Have Different Sound Effects?
The One Piece manga has over 70 volumes and the author has stated that he figures that he is only about halfway done with the story. And both the manga and the anime are best sellers. So... Yeah... Not going to end so soon.shinmaru wrote:I like OP, but please One Piece has over 400 episodes already just end the damn show and focus on Super.

Re: OP animation
From what I've heard it's not so much weekly One Piece, but the One Piece TV specials and One Piece movies that use up all the talent and budget.

Yeah, One Piece is here to stay for at least another decade. I did hear one rumour though that an editor of One Piece claimed that the story is 70% finished.rereboy wrote:The One Piece manga has over 70 volumes and the author has stated that he figures that he is only about halfway done with the story. Re: Why Does Super Have Different Sound Effects?
I directly talked with Arai before BoG was released. He said he's tired of adding sound effects to footage without any actual drawings and thinking about quitting the anime industry. So, maybe he doesn't want to work on multiple TV series anymore, and he was okay with Kai because it has finished animation from the beginning.
Also, it seems both Arai and the one who's doing Super recently moved to a different company.

It would be nice if they didn't have to stop and spend 50+ chapters each on every single island before they get to the end of the Grand Line...Lord Beerus wrote:Yeah, One Piece is here to stay for at least another decade. That's interesting. Well, it'd be sad to see Arai go, but he wants to retire then I wish him a happy retirement. I do miss hearing his Z sound effects in Super; the ki blast sounds, the squeaky-shoes and the ki aura especially.kei17 wrote:I directly talked with Arai before BoG was released.
