Background music in Tenshinhan's Saiyajin Saga Flashback?

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Background music in Tenshinhan's Saiyajin Saga Flashback?

Post by erik-the-red » Sat Jan 20, 2007 10:50 pm

http://www.daizex.com/general/ask/archi ... 5_30.shtml

The first question was
In the Japanese version of the Saiya-jin saga, there's a pretty music piece that plays when Tenshinhan has visions from when Chaozu and he were training. The stuff with Tsurusennin, climbing Karin's tower, etc... I wanted to know if this piece can be found on any of the DBZ CDs, and if so, which one? What's the track called?
At the time, VegettoEX said he didn't find it on any of the CDs he scanned through and was not completely sure which song was mentioned.

The youtube link below is a fansub of the sequence.

In my opinion, it's very sad and thus very appropriate for the scene.

Does anyone know the name of the song? I only heard it for the first time last week; it definitely was not in the Ocean Group dub.

I recognize that piece being in Dragonball Movie 3 (Mystical Adventure). Would that mean it appears on a Dragonball CD instead?

Wow, that was quite the emotional scene. The music made me sorry for him whereas before I didn't care too much. I don't remember those flashbacks from when it was first televised. Very sad.

I don't remember the flashbacks, either.

I think they were edited because they're mostly from Dragon Ball, and at that time (~1996), unless you were already a fan, you just didn't know why Tenshinhan felt so strongly about Chaozu's death.

Which of course destroyed the whole purpose of the sequence.

It's a moot point now, anyway, thank God.

It's indeed a very sad scene. Right after Chauzu blows himself up you also get to hear very sad music with flashbacks of Chauzu.

I think this thread has to move to the music section though.

That sounds like both the song played in Mystical Adventure when Tenshinhan refuses to kill Chaozu, and something similar to "Upa's theme"... although it's arranged differently.

So we've got two users stating that it appears on Mystical Adventure (during a Tenshinhan-Chaozu scene).

Huh, given that the flashback itself is composed of Dragon Ball sequences, I wouldn't be surprised if the music would be found on a Dragon Ball CD, and not a Z one!

It could be a piece of a music from another Toei series. I know Toei reuses a lot of music in series. Infact, most of Mazinger Z's OST was made up of music from Cyborg 009. (black and white series)
