They are fine, for the dub ones you can only blame FUNI (Even for the TIEN one). The Freeza one reaching Coola's 5th form was probably in everyone's mind back then, myself included.

So I wasn't crazy after all! Thanks. I don't know what misconceptions were around in the 90s though. Wasn't born then.

When I first saw the show it was in the middle of an episode of the Saiyan saga where Piccolo, Gohan, and Krillin, are fighting Nappa. So, without seeing the opening title of the show, my young mind thought this clearly must be Street Fighter just when the characters are younger. Piccolo was Blanka, Krillin was Ken, Gohan was Ryu (he even had a headband lol), and Nappa was Sagat (i guess? lol). They even fired Ki at each other which at the time I thought were Hadoukens. Obviously I quickly realized this wasn't true but those were the days...

When i was like 9 i first saw dbz because my grandma had cartoon network and for some stupid reason my region where i lived didnt get it till a few years later. So after i first saw a marathon of the ginyu saga and a few weeks later i was at a flea market with my family and bought some Japanese dbz cards that had goku and vegeta as ssj. As never seeing them before i thought they were completely different characters like some evil twin or something

As a child, I never believed the end of z arc to be the end of dragon ball z. I always thought of it as some filler and would never watch it. I would stop at the end of the buu saga thinking the series would continue without the oob introduction and the world tournament.
That werid belief partially came true with dragon ball super being after the buu saga and not after the 10 year gap.
