Kaioshin (ancestors)

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Kaioshin (ancestors)

Post by Professor Gohan » Tue Jan 12, 2016 1:29 am

A few questions about the Kaioshin:

1. How old is the generation of Kaioshin that fought Boo, on the Kaioshin planet?

2. Should they be around the age as Old Kai?

3. Should Old Kai and the Kaioshin (who fought Boo) be the first generation?
In other words, should they be the first generation that bloomed from the "Divine Tree"?

The generation who fought Buu were old enough that even the youngest was already around "when humanity was just beginning to walk on their hind legs," which places the time period of Buu's rampage to somewhere in the millions of years (the number I've seen is around 5 million, but you'll probably get different numbers depending on who you ask.) Since the East Kaioshin, the only survivor, was supposed to be the youngest and most inexperienced of that group, I'd guess the others were probably at least thousands of years older than him.

The Old Kaioshin is from 15 generations ago. The commonly used 75 million figure (for when he was sealed) comes from taking the 5 million from the first question and multiplying that by 15, assuming that a "generation" is usually 5 million years based on the East Kaioshin still being around after that long... but really it could have been further in the past or more recent depending on various things.

The Old Kaioshin may very well have been among the first generation, especially if he's actually much older than the commonly used 75 million figure, but those who fought Buu most likely weren't from the same generation as him -- we know the East Kaioshin specifically was 15 generations later, so it's likely that the others were probably at least 10-14 generations younger than the one sealed in the Z-Sword was. I guess it's possible that some (like maybe the Dai Kaioshin?) were that old too, but it seems pretty unlikely to me.
