Makaio and God of Destruction

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Makaio and God of Destruction

Post by Professor Gohan » Tue Jan 12, 2016 1:04 am

Compare & contrast: what are the similarities and differences between two concepts?

Originally:
Kaioshin: creators
Makaio: "govern evil"

Now:
Kaioshin creators
God of Destruction: planetary destruction to maintain balance.

Is there anymore?
What all is there to know?

That's not actually accurate. The Kaioshin weren't gods of creation until the Hakaishin was introduced. Prior to that, the Kaio(shin) were basically good gods and the Makaio(shin) were evil gods.

Still, the only similarity Makaio(shin) and Hakaishin really share are that they were created as counters to the same set of gods. Beyond that there's next to zero information on the gods of Makai, so I don't think you're going to get much out of this topic.

If I had to guess, I'd say that the Makaioshin are 'creator gods" of the Demon Realm, as opposed to the Kaioshin being creators within the mortal universe who also watch over the afterlife. The Demon Realm is said to be a place where magic rules rather than science, so maybe it's the influence of ancient Makaioshins building magic-dominated worlds that's behind this difference.

So basically...

Kaioshin: Good creators, make worlds where the laws of physics apply and normal people can survive.
Makaioshin: Evil creators, make worlds of chaos that demons, monsters, and evil wizards would enjoy living in.
Hakaishin: Neutral destroyers, blow up whatever pisses them off or upsets the balance regardless of good or evil.

Could there be a Makai equivalent of the Hakaishin?
Cool stuff that I upload here because Youtube will copyright claim it: https://vimeo.com/user60967147

Great post, Avatron, my thoughts exactly.

I've been thinking about "good", "evil", and "neutral" a lot lately. That concept would work perfectly if we disregard the retconning of Makaio-Hakai.

1. That makes me think Bibidi is from the Demon Realm. Bibidi has a home planet, but said planet could exist within the Demon Realm.

2. A "Makaio" version for a Hakaishin might be reaching a tad.

Beerus should be the 3rd higher representative of Uni 7. At least, it should be that way.
