Only they weren't! Surely everyone had a phase when they were getting into Dragon Ball, and when other people were ahead of you, told you something which would be a spoiler but you refused to believe and dismissed it as wrong, acting so cock-sure and arrogant?

I did.

Towards the middle of the Furiza saga, I was told by a friend that Vegeta would die. I instantly dismissed it as a lie, because Vegeta was far too powerful to be taken down so easily.

I also didn't believe Trunks was Vegeta's son. I don't even remember who told me, or why I didn't believe him. I just... didn't.

Way the Hell back on Episode #0006 of the podcast... myself, Julian, and Meri told a couple funny stories about lies we believed way-back-when. That might be a good bit of comedy for people

I didn't believe that Tien would beat Goku at the 22nd budokai. I thought Goku would have given him a kamehameha flavored face lift.

My filler/canon topic kinda goes hand in hand with this topic.

And in terms of me not thinking something was true, I guess it would be Goku using the Genki-Dama on Kid Boo. I mean it failed against Vegeta and Freeza, so why would it work on someone stronger, right?

When I first watched the early Freeza Saga episodes dubbed by the Ocean Group back in the late 1990s, someone told me that Bulma would eventually hook up with Vegeta and they would have a kid together.

Considering how terrified Bulma was of Vegeta in the early Namek episodes, I really didn't believe it at first.

Back when I was still renting the Freeza saga on VHS as it was coming out, friends started telling me about a second Super Saiyan from the future who just happened to be the son of Bulma and Vegeta, and was actually the one who killed Freeza. Having just seen Freeza "die" on Namek, I called bullshit on that.

I don't know which is worse, that I was wrong, or that they were right. I mean I love the Trunks saga, but the plot is just so...silly.

I didn't believe Oolong saved the world, but he did! A little something people can easily forget or dismiss. In case anyone's wondering, it was during the first ever wish to the Dragonballs and Pilaf was about to obtain world domination, then Oolong bravely threw himself in front of the imp; wishing for... "Some panties off a hot babe!!"

When I was watching the Buu saga for the first time on CN, some of my friends told be he was gonna be fat, pink, and turn people into chocolate. Now there was NO DOUBT in my mind that was B.S. *lol*

I remember a guy at school telling me that Goku was gonna contract a disease and have a heart attack on the battlefield. I totally thought he was pulling my leg, 'cause a Super Saiyan being crippled by an infection just sounded ridiculous to me.

One of my friends told me back in 6th grade that there was a series after Dragon Ball GT called Dragon Ball X. He said that Piccolo gets a wife and that Goku goes Super Saiya-jin 10. I was so young, and so stupid.....

When I first got into the series, I used to think that Akira Toriyama drew everything Dragonball. Every cell of every episode, movie, or commercial. Every product was done by him, every character in UB22 was done by him; everything.

Another rumor I heard was that Goku's heart virus was initially made to bring aids awareness in Japan. Seriously.

Same here for the Akira Toriyama one, but everything else, I didn't get tricked, why? I did my research, after hearing the ending from my friend, yes I was given a spolier by my friend after being introduced to DragonBallZ.

I don't remember anything that I considered an outright lie that turned out to be true.

The only kinds of things I remember from way back then actually were lies! Things like "Those guys with the yellow hair in this screenshot are Goku and Vegeta's cousins" or "After the Buu Saga there's the Evil Goku Saga" and stuff like that.

I never believed the Evil Goku one but I do remember believing the cousins thing briefly before forgetting about it completely.
