That doesn't really answer the question, what the hell is going on in the shots?coola wrote:Result of remaster process, company Viz hired is not very good at itMetalwario64 wrote:What the hell is going on with their mouths here?coola wrote:Sorry if I'm too harsh, but, i think it is all our fault, let's take a look at Viz release of Sailor Moon, it is garbage, worse than Orange Bricks, bootlegs are much better than this, yet people still buy it, because it is Sailor Moon, it is 1st complete release in US, and all that, just because something is classic and popular means, that company can throw half baked product, and we still buy it, no more, stop supporting shows, that clearly are poorly made, regardless of its brand. I wont buy Viz Sailor Moon, but Madman release, or wait for Polish releases, i will also not support Super, if Toei/Shueisha don't care, why would i give them money?

They used crappy grain removing filters, according to Facebook comments, there are freeze-frames where people will be talking but their mouths don't move because of that funky freeze-frame algorithm they use.

I think I'm starting to become a significant fan of Tate. His cut in the newest Super episode was great and it seems he's actually contributed a fair amount of great moments to the One Piece anime, like this one: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0QJ3UCPw_-A
He also played a significant role in episode 11, which is probably my favorite Super episode thus far. I've never been one good at recognizing animators, but I actually like his style. Episode 5 gave him a bad rep on a few places (namely Twitter) but I don't know how many if any of the awful shots and moments were his doing.

Tate is great when he gets to do his thing. His One Piece episodes are excellent, and some of my favourites. It's a shame he's not been able to do his thing with Super. I liked his cut this week, but it doesn't look like the best of his ability.

I agree with that, that cut could've been better given some of his other work. I wish the staff in general was able to do their thing a little more. Some of the cool bits we get from the One Piece anime like the work from Tate keep me from dropping the anime and staying manga only like I eventually did with say Naruto. Then again, I haven't been following One Piece a whole lot lately. Might pick it up again soon.Ajay wrote:Tate is great when he gets to do his thing. When I watched OP, I had problems with that episode animation. That punch always felt awkward (0:57-0:59).Wezenheim wrote:I think I'm starting to become a significant fan of Tate. For One Piece Episode #396 I think Tate was trying to channel Mori Hisashi. Black and white has become popular over the years among animators, though.

It's not for everyone, but I thought the stylistic change suited the moment.FortuneSSJ wrote:When I watched OP, I had problems with that episode animation. Black and white is pretty interesting to look at. Was that Hisashi punch from a movie? I've never seen any of the One Piece movies and I don't remember that moment in the anime/manga.JulieYBM wrote:For One Piece Episode #396 I think Tate was trying to channel Mori Hisashi. It's from the sixth One Piece film. Director Hosoda Mamoru brought on a plethora of good animators.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
Ah okay, thanks. I've heard the films are actually pretty decent so I probably should watch them sometime. They do look great from what I've seen though, I can't deny that.

-Been thinking about this-
Before Yamamuro, who was the director of DB anime?! And how much different he was?

The most WTF One Piece Movie. I hated the animation on this one.JulieYBM wrote:It's from the sixth One Piece film. Director Hosoda Mamoru brought on a plethora of good animators.
One Piece Film Z is a beast. One of the best shonen movies ever saw.Wezenheim wrote:Ah okay, thanks. I've heard the films are actually pretty decent so I probably should watch them sometime. They do look great from what I've seen though, I can't deny that.

Naw, Hosoda's style is perfect for that series. So much so that Tate seemed to adopt it as his own. Easily my favourite of the ones I've seen so far.

Thanks for the answer. How was his relationship with the staff?Sodhi wrote:Nishio Daisuke was the director for dragon ball and dragon ball z and several films. He was also assistant director of "Dr. Slump" in 1982FortuneSSJ wrote:-Been thinking about this-

I read a lot of complaints about Yamamuro force the others members to adopt his style, and doesn't give them any freedom to their own thing.
Who could be potential candidates to take the helm?

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
I dont think that is true especially in Super. In super some episodes have deliberately gone away from Yammauro's style to do their own thing. He just does not have as much power as he did in ROF the movie. That is because in that movie he was the director, Storyboarder, Animation supervisor, and a key animator.FortuneSSJ wrote: Thanks for the answer. How was his relationship with the staff?

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
I'm happy Yamamuro doesn't have as much power on Super. It's nice to see different art styles again like in Z.
On hiatus.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
Yamamuro is just the character designer and chief animation supervisor. His role as director has neen limited to the last movie, the last few OP, ED and Super #13. The Production Guide and Episode Guide have all the credits.

Can't even find anything about the Blu Ray Season 1. Is it true that they only fixed the episode 5 animation? They expect people to pay 120 bucks by barely doing anything.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Animation Staff Discussion
Yes, plus preview of episode 6 and recap of episode 5.DragonHermit wrote:Can't even find anything about the Blu Ray Season 1. Is it true that they only fixed the episode 5 animation?
