I know you're kidding but I don't see any reason for SSB2 and SSB3, which will probably be the next tranformations, be other color than blue.Basaku wrote: Not that I disgree, but moves don't really sell plastic action figures so yeah, be ready for green SSJ hair coming in soon
And we could always get both, but I'm more interested in new techniques.
For new toys, we will already have all the new U6 characters + whatever happens in Heroes.

Heroes cannot even compare to a TV series in terms of pushing merchandise. It pushes mainly its own cards, if it has any effect on other merch (action figures) at all. Not to mention that it's completly irrelevant outside Japan. New U6 characters will definitely be important, but it's obvious the main iconic heroes with new forms/outfits/transformations and other flashy stuff is what sells most. Hence why SSB Goku and Vegeta are getting plastered on everything including pencils and toilet paper.FortuneSSJ wrote:I know you're kidding but I don't see any reason for SSB2 and SSB3, which will probably be next tranformations, be other color than blue.Basaku wrote: Not that I disgree, but moves don't really sell plastic action figures so yeah, be ready for green SSJ hair coming in soon

Shunken Ido Kamehameha: not working against Cell.LightBing wrote:That isn't true. Shunken Ido Kamehameha, Genki Dama, Kienzan, Makankōsappō, probably the kikoho. Genki Dama: not working against Freeza. Against Buu it was the wishes that helped Goku. Kid buu pushed the Genki Dama away.
Makankosappo: it was 2 against one, Goku and piccolo vs Raditz. The first one he missed because the beam was slower than the stronger opponent.
I can give you also examples what i meant.
Vegeta's final atonement (against Buu), self destruction (against Buu), final flash ( against Cell)
Gohan Masenko (against Nappa and Freeza)
Ultimate Buu chocolate Beam (against Vegetto)
The super ghost kamikazi attack (against vegetto)
Good buu chocolade beam (against grey Buu)
All the attacks of gotenks post hyberbolic time Chamber
Goku's Kaioken
Freeza's final form light beams: did almost kill Piccolo but did nothing to ssj goku.
etc etc
The only move that actually can win a fight when the oppenent is stronger is the Change Body techniek.
Dragon ball is all about powerlevels IF the higher power comes with the speed it needed.

The Super manga is mainly just previews on what will happen in the show then just a weekly series with a straight forward series. I don't see Viz picking it up here in the US.sintzu wrote:Hopefully Viz won't take to long to release it.

It's not about a single move to achieve victory, it's adding more variety to your arsenal. Goku's arsenal is essentially generic moves, ki blasts, and Kamehameha. Yes he has more moves, but more often then not this is all he uses. It's why I appreciate when he starts using some Shunkan Ido to change things up. I want a new fighting style or move so we can see something different for a change. Dragon Ball used to come up with plenty of awesome moves and techniques. Now it's all generic punches, generic beams, and more hair colours.Pannaliciour wrote:But honestly not a single move can let you win a fight IF the opponent is stronger.dbzfan7 wrote:I really do not want more transformations for the saiyans for a while. Well it could potentially for some if has the movement capabilities. Some of mine did.Basaku wrote:Not that I disgree, but moves don't really sell plastic action figures so yeah, be ready for green SSJ hair coming in soon
I already expect another lazy form when it comes. Just glance at deviantart for some ideas they'll probably use.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!
Spoiler:
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
It's a shame this show isn't made to sell manga cause if that was the case then the story would be the priority, not the amount of toys that can be made and sold like it is now.Basaku wrote:Moves don't really sell plastic action figures so yeah, be ready for green SSJ hair coming in soon
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
This is more than likely just the beginning, Dragon Ball is a cash cow and Super and Heroes are proof of that. I can already see it turning into the Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise with or without Toriyama's involvement. Same thing is happening with Naruto and it's Boruto continuation as they see there is money to be made and it will not be left on the table. GT was a driving point for DB's decrease in popularity, but I do not think Dragon Ball will ever "Die" again. In my opinion at this point with the franchises Resurrection and success, reboots and spin-offs are inevitable.sintzu wrote:It's a shame this show isn't made to sell manga cause if that was the case then the story would be the priority, not the amount of toys that can be made and sold like it is now.Basaku wrote:Moves don't really sell plastic action figures so yeah, be ready for green SSJ hair coming in soon

You can look past certain things in video games but when they start making their way into the actual story then it becomes a problem.Xeztin wrote:This is more than likely just the beginning, Dragon Ball is a cash cow and Super and Heroes are proof of that.

Yu-Gi-Oh was a toy commercial from the beginning while DB&Z were straight adaptions of the manga which put it's story above everything else.
As long as the story is the priority which based on Boruto's movie it is then they can continue it for as long as they can tell good stories.
That's fine but if they're going to continue the main story then the focus should be on the story like it was back in the day not the toys.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Super but it more or less has already become like Yu-Gi-Oh! in a sense... Not with trying to keep a card game relevant, but with toys, merchandise such as clothes, video games, movies, etc... Also Kishimoto wrote Boruto the movie, he is not writing the manga so it might turn out the same way (quick cash grab). It is what it is, during the original serialization you had passionate authors trying to make the best story possible, but where do you go when you have completed your work and have made one of the best selling manga ever read? If you want money then you make new material and push merch sales.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Yugioh started as manga without any tie in products too. Remember, when the card game is introduced, they don't even follow the real rules for quite a long time - since there was no actual card game. It's only with Battle City that the real card game makes its way to the manga.
A blue SSJ3 could happen, but I don't think they'll go with that. If they decide to dump the "simple" transformations and go for something more complex again, I think we'll see a completely new design. They're going with recolors due to Toriyama pushing for these simple designs, so if they decide they want a more showy transformation there's no reason to stick with color changes.
If by SSB2 and SSB3 you mean recolors of the SSJ2 and SSJ3 forms, I really don't think we'll see those. SSJ2 was always a problem for Toei, and even Toriyama, maybe, if you think that Gohan was supposed to be a SSJ2 against Dabura. After the manga ended though, Toriyama himself has been quoted as talking about how he had forgotten about the form for a while. The SSB aura already has lightning sometimes, so throwing some small hair style change as the next big level would just lead to confusion. I really don't think we'll see a blue SSJ2.FortuneSSJ wrote:I know you're kidding but I don't see any reason for SSB2 and SSB3, which will probably be the next tranformations, be other color than blue.Basaku wrote: Not that I disgree, but moves don't really sell plastic action figures so yeah, be ready for green SSJ hair coming in soon

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
You know Yu-Gi-Oh was based on a manga too? While both DB and DBZ was based on manga, there was always merchandise in mind for them too when making a anime. Kids saw SSj Goku fighting Freeza, probably ask their parents to buy action figures of SSj Goku and Freeza to play with. Kids will buy toys of their favorite shows on TV. A lot of us was like that growing up as kids. I had several DBZ toys as a kid too because I love the show and wanted to play as my favorite characters. Action kid shows are always made to sell toys in mind. Naruto and One Piece have kids toys too in Japan.

Exactly, I bought tons of DBZ action figures when I was growing up and I also bought tons of Yu-Gi-Oh! cards. Some people may hate to admit it but at the end of the day all these shows are geared towards kids, if it wasn't there would be no action figures to begin with or cards for that matter. If DBS keeps selling well, then it will never die again just like Yu-Gi-Oh! is still going today.Hellspawn28 wrote:You know Yu-Gi-Oh was based on a manga too? Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
VJump spoilers have been coming later lately due to events of a few months ago. VJump's Yugioh spoilers usually appear first, so once you see them you know it'll be only a matter of time for Super manga spoilers.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Exactly, Yu-Gi-Oh never began focusing on card games like the second series anime, It's a pretty interesting manga in the beginning, build characters in a better way, but also has some needless stories that do not aggregate much with the continuity.Neon Z wrote:Yugioh started as manga without any tie in products too. Well, ROF arc its over. No more Movie comparisons. A part of Super hate died today.
Toei did the best decision of not talking about the other universes in Super yet.
After BOG Movie talk about it, not going that route in ROF was kick in the balls.
Doing it after ROF, makes everything flesh out better.

I like how Toei is promoting super from billboard on building to inside the malls and markets. Lots of universe 6 characters and hit/heat with goku in japan. They are making it seem like the series starts from here(Champa arc).

Not really. That'd be like saying if, back in the original DBZ, they started promoting the Android saga by having pictures of Goku and Cell back-to-back, that, "Woah! It's like they're advertising it as a new series!" No. It's just Arc 3.Sodhi wrote:I like how Toei is promoting super from billboard on building to inside the malls and markets.
