That's like asking why people buy anime DVD/BD, since most of them are promotion for the manga.Kuririn Fan wrote: Why is a promotional manga so important? Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
That's really not the same. Manga does its thing, then anime after some time adapts that + filler so it doesn't catch up. This is clearly a monthly promotion, it jumps all over the place, showing only things that would attract readers. It doesn't feel like a story that flows normally, but like a best of, recap, a PROMOTION, preview of things to come.FortuneSSJ wrote:That's like asking why people buy anime DVD/BD, since most of them are promotion for the manga.Kuririn Fan wrote: Why is a promotional manga so important? Actually in most cases Anime are made to sell DVDs or Blue rays. That's where a lot of the money in anime isFortuneSSJ wrote:That's like asking why people buy anime DVD/BD, since most of them are promotion for the manga.Kuririn Fan wrote: Why is a promotional manga so important? Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
DVD and Bluray sales have declined tremendously, especially because of never ending bullshit anime like Naruto and One piece.
They don't earn a lot of money through that, they earn a lot of money through merchandising and video games on top of their sponsors.
But as it stands, this crappy "manga" is clearly not an actual manga. The storytelling is abysmal and it's clearly only here to "hype things to come" and not tell a story with a coherent world around it. Too many things are rushed, it's a sloppy job.

I enjoy the manga for what it is which is a promotional piece and to be honest it is better than no manga at all in my opinion. A lot of people like manga in general like myself. Just my two cents but I feel as if this Super manga is grooming Toyotaro to do his own spin-off down the road.

I never thought about that. Perhaps a U6-related spin-off?Xeztin wrote:Just my two cents but I feel as if this Super manga is grooming Toyotaro to do his own spin-off down the road.

Because I like manga and since GT was never manga this is like the official "sequal" to the manga? It's also kinda like super...really no reason to watch it when you have the moviesKuririn Fan wrote:Why is a promotional manga so important? I'll most likely pick up the Japanese tankobon eventually, but it likely won't fill in the Golden Freeza Arc with the material he already did for Resurrection "F" (plus a required extra chapter to finish) so it'll feel incomplete to me...
I'd also like an English release eventually, but I don't expect one.

If this manga continues past U6 Arc airing on TV, I hope to be strong to avoid spoilers

Yea, I'm wondering how long it will go? How much could vol. 1 cover? It would seem like a letdown if it just stopped at U6. Or maybe the anime stops and the manga continues?Noah wrote:If this manga continues past U6 Arc airing on TV, I hope to be strong to avoid spoilers

The manga has fast pacing, but you can still understand what's going on. Super just swicthed both roles.Kuririn Fan wrote:That's really not the same. The manga pomotes the anime, while usually its the anime that promotes the source material (manga).
It not coincidence that mangas like Shingeki no Kyojin and One Punch Man had their sales skyrocket, after they get beautiful anime adaptations.

I don't see the anime staying behind that long so there's no way the manga will spoil that much in the future.Noah wrote:If this manga continues past U6 Arc airing on TV, I hope to be strong to avoid spoilers

Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
I've been checking up on the 2ch Super thread and Twitter. Since the manga is so far ahead of the weekly series I'm way more anxious about the manga. And also I just want to know who exactly Mystery Saiyan is so I know if he's interesting or not.
On hiatus.
Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
The only part of the manga that really seems sloppy so far were the movie retellings, where it seems to assume that the reader already watched the movies, in spite of retelling at least Battle of Gods. The actual Universe 6 stuff at least so far stands on its own without problems.Slaythe wrote:DVD and Bluray sales have declined tremendously, especially because of never ending bullshit anime like Naruto and One piece.

I'm hoping once Kabe(new saiyan from universe 6) reveals his backstory about his saiyan race, they'll give us more flashbacks to Planet Vegeta. Like what's the deal with the original super saiyan god?

What if Kabe is not a Saiyan? I mean, that's just a Frieza uniform, right? ... not a Saiyan uniform?SaiyaSith wrote:I'm hoping once Kabe(new saiyan from universe 6) reveals his backstory about his saiyan race, they'll give us more flashbacks to Planet Vegeta. Nah, his name is meant to play off of cabbage, a vegetable, just like all the other saiyans. Champa said he needed a saiyan on his team, so we're pretty sure that's him. I'm curious where his tail is, though.phattangent wrote:What if Kabe is not a Saiyan? Re: Super's manga by Toyotarō
I'm even hesitant to call him Kabe. The name sounds legit, but there's still no hard evidence the rumoured names are true. Someone said they saw those names at Jump Festa, but no one took a picture.
I like the name though.
