I suppose the set should be arriving at retailers as we speak. However they won't be able to put it out until the instructed street date unless they want to get into trouble. :P
Awesome. I'm assuming that if you were to buy it from there with uber fast shipping, you'd get it pre-release date. However, it would cost a pretty penny.

Also, I'm hoping that Tanooki-Kuribo picked this shiznet up if his store received it!

Cool, hopefully someone can get us a review.

And comparisons and blah and junk.

Aw, what kind of douchey site is that?! I had my stupid fat fingers leap into my wallet to grab my credit card for NOTHING.

AAAAAAAAAAAAnime.com is a store that sells to other stores. Awesome.

EDIT: Guys, pretty please keep your eye out for online retailers who "get this set in early" and post some links so we can all get our DBZ sooner.

I'm confused. That page says that DBZ is shipping at TRSI. But when I went to RightStuf it still says "Preorder." Also, one of the guys on that thread something about a "partial delivery" or something.

Oh. Are you saying I should keep an eye on that thread? I'm slow.

I need details on how you're pulling this off.

Please?

I work at a movie store, I checked our orders and the expected shipment of DBZ Season 1 is sometime this week. I'll be getting it as soon as it's arrived.

Soft street date.

I assume that means that whatever retailer recieves their shipments can put it out without consequences or...?

Pros:
- improved video quality
- additional option of the JP BGM with the englsih audio
- new english script to remain more consistent (unknown to whether it's more accurate to the JP script than their previous attempts)
- more episodes for a cheaper price
- special feature (features?) aside from trailers and crappy character bios
- additional booklet thing including character bios, timeline, and episode summaries
- the usual pros of unaltered footage, and the original JP version

Cons:
- WIDESCREEN (which is actually a bigger problem than you'd think)
- the possibility that the rest of the series will continue to be released in widescreen, since FUNi'd want to keep their word and remain consistent with their releases (right??)

As mentioned by everyone else, FUNi did everything right, except for one thing that could end up changing your thoughts on whether to buy the set or not.

I think that's over-exagerating it quite a bit.

Yeah.... I said it before I will say it again. The widescreen decision is the wrench in the works. I feel queasy just thinking about it.... I'm also anxious for a review and some actual bipartisan screens. Maybe a clip... FUNI not showing a clip of the series in widescreen makes me very nervous. :x

I will also keep a lookout for online retaliors or any other information about this set though you all seem to be pro's at finding news fast....

Rightstuf broke streetdate for pre-orders and shipped mine today. Eager for it to get here, though I must admit I'm kinda nervous about the whole widescreen thing.

Thinking about it though, Funi's original DVD releases were heavily zoomed in already in various places right? So I'm betting I'll not notice the missing edges much (I hope my logic is not too ill).

godofchaos, can you have comparison pictures? Or will you work with someone to get Dragonbox comparison pics and junk?

And can you take pictures/scans of the box?

At the very least, phone cam shots, if I'm not lazy, I will drag out my scanner and do very nice scans.

As for Dragonbox comparisons 'shrugs', anyone feel free to contact me on aim.

It's a soft street date, eh? I'll eyeball the local Best Buy then.
