You have Episode 25 listed as 24 under Masahiro Shimanuki.

They say this anime did it better than anything in super. :D
H-How?! I kinda feel embarassed, because that's true. Its just a matter of time until that video go viral.
Even Toei needs to fix this before the Champa arc, the animation in the first 2 arcs are not working well.

Four straight episodes with two or more animation supervisors. Next episode with Tate will most likely have additional supervisor(s). That means Yoshitaka, Kitano, Shimanuki, and Tate are all focusing at the next arc at the moment. That means Chioka had different supervisors assigned to the said episodes to lessen burden on the primary supervisors. And I haven't seen Shida storyboard episodes for quite a while, so he could very well be joining the main staff in preparation for the upcoming arc.

^I think we all wish that is true and hope Toei delivers with Universe 6 arc. Only time will tell now.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Shida boarded Episode 22. There is also no indication that the staff is focusing on the Universe Six arc.

Ajay, do you plan on updating this thread? I was really liking your comparisons of shots and I'm intrigued to hear what you have to say about episodes 26 and 27.

Yeah, I'll get back to it at some point this week. The show was really starting to piss me off so I didn't really feel like spending any time on it.

My biggest problem with Super's animation is that while DBZ had peaks and valleys, Super's animation just seems to be consistently mediocre. Episodes, 1, 2, 13, and 16 (whichever one that had the Vegeta egg silliness) were the only consistently great looking episodes. I always get sad whenever I see the excellent ending credit animations knowing that 13 was the only episode so far that actually captures that same level of quality.

That's exactly where I stand. People cite things like Uchiyama and Ebisawa's bad work, but you also had lots of decent to great animators surrounding those episodes. Here it's as if Ebisawa and Uchiyama did every episode, and even then, I feel like most of their work was better than a lot of this subpar animation we've been getting.

The first three series has stable production schedules and staff. Those staff were also more often than not more experienced, even if they produced bad cuts. Dragon Ball Super has less time, largely inconsistent staff members and members all with different levels of skill.

Masahiro Shimanuki wins IMO for having at least SOME drawing without the white triangles on people's skin. It's disgusting, pointless and makes them look stupid. Why go out of your way to animate on something that looks so bad?! Sigh....this and the new animation not being animation cels makes it disappointing. But some shots look good, not cel level good but when you get just beerus in a shot in space, it looks grand. beerus is the only one who doesn't suffer the shiny effect to make him look like he's sweating like crazy 24/7. Presumably because he has fur.

Masahiro Shimanuki's picture of Beerus in space, I think it was by him anyway in the catalog is really good. Nice colors. Actually nice on the eyes and not a strain like how battle of gods was.

The only way Super not using animation cels could be considered disappointing is if it was ever a possibility in the first place. Saeza-san became the last TV anime that used cels way back in 2007, and even it stopped using them in 2013.

But the last 3 (4 if you count kai) dragonball shows used animation cels. I'm disappointed because it was so much better with the colors back in 95 when they used animation cels.....20 years later the colors are not as good as 95. No excuse it's just disappointing.

Cels have very little to do with the aesthetic of the show. Your blame is misplaced. You simply dislike the direction of the show.

The following scenes are digitally animated:
If they wanted to retain the aesthetic of the previous series, they could have. It's not difficult to replicate it digitally. Digital vs cel animation has very little to do with that.

What is that show on top? It looks like they were going for a VHS style look, with all of that color bleeding. It's quite strange.

It was a little homage type thing in the latest episode of Musaigen no Phantom World. They're sat in the cinema watching an old film, so they were going for that throwback look. I thought it was a nice example that you can do that kinda look digitally if you so please. Figured Kill la Kill wasn't a bad example of a show with art direction that gives you that 90s feeling, too.

Not really. I do hate the new shinier look yes, but you CAN'T replicate cel animation in digital art. The closest you get is like high school DXD and I'm not even sure if that's digital it's so good. Then again it does the eye overlapping hair thing a lot XD That's common in digital art.

Here's a picture of a cel I binged. YOu can't replicate this picture of burter in digital animation. You can blue and red and brown.....but you can't get em this good. They'd be all shiny and glossy sadly.

http://www.bing.com/images/search?q=dra ... ajaxhist=0

That's with safe search filter off FYI. Ask any artist and they absolutely WILL NOT be able to replicate that in digital art. Impossible. It'd be like making purple with just red and no blue. See the difference in the colors between this or any episode of Z and then any episode of super? Colors are MUCH different.
