I haven't read the fanfic, so I couldn't tell you about that, but it's easy to fit the description that you quoted, this chapter and the main comic. The description only talks about most universes, not all, so no real problem arises from that. As for why Radditz and Kakarotto will succeed, its probably due to a combination of their armor not being as powerful as in the tournament plus most of the ultras being off-world.FoolsGil wrote:

Freeza seeing a slow attack and measuring hardly any ki on his scouter might just let the blade slice hit him, like he would cockily let Nail strike him. I see...well, technically that could just mean that the birds mistook raw strength for fighting prowess. I mean, maybe the only reason the Heliorites were chosen in U9 was because they already killed everyone else. The saiyans were killed, the Frost demons were killed, Cell was never born, and Buu was never awoken. If that was the case they shouldn't have picked up any helior. I'm pretty sure that somewhere in their universe there was someone with more natural power. People like Yakon would surely have more natural power than them.Fionordequester wrote:

Whereas with here, the Heliotes could win, but still not have raw power levels higher than the Saiyans (who are obviously going to get much stronger later on, with later Super Saiyan transformations). I mean, according to the FAQ, this is how the birds found their contestants...
They have a "magic" detector telling them who are the strongest of the universe.
And that's all there was to it. No regards to tactics or fighting know-how or anything of the sort, just "who's the strongest".
The Helior guy in the tournament kept up with #16 in speed and took several hits from him. And #16 is much stronger than Freeza. They didn't just get lucky.Regarder wrote:

Has anyone considered that maybe the Helioites got super lucky in that Universe? After all, all of the multiverses are picked out of an infinite number of variations, so anything that can happen according to DB "physics", however unlikely, will have happened. You take infinite chances at something one out of a quadrillion, and eventually you'll get it. It's the basic implication of an infinite multiverse.
EDIT: It seems like it just says "many" in the comic, but considering that Universe 18 is actually a 13 digit number in terms of Universes the Vargas have been counting, the basic point still stands.
