Your least liked character/villain/transformation designs

Let's see,

- Legendary SS Broly. Everyone else had gone on about it, so I'll just leave it at that.
- SS4 Broly. 'Nuff said.
- Any villain that tries to look cool and badass with a bunch of spikes or a bunch of muscles. Janemba, Yi Xing Long, Cooler. Most of them come off as copying Freeza.
- Perfect Cell. Dude looks like a guy in a bug man costume. Imperfect Cell, on the other hand, is one of my favorite designs.
- Demigra, both forms. His first form looks like a Zelda villain, not someone from Dragon Ball. His demon form is just butt ugly.

Edit: I forgot! Super Saiyan 3. I'm just not a fan of those prominent brows.

My least liked saiyan transformation is an unpopular opinion, which seems to be most people's favourite. You guess, what it is

Both Saiyan God forms were unimpressive to me (skinny Kaioken, or standard SS in blue? Reeeeeeeeal original), but Abo and Kado were just shapeless blobs IMO.

I've gotta go with Golden Freeza. It's just as cheap as Toriyama's own commentative dig in his script for ROF, but even with intentional tackiness aside, I think the colour scheme just sits poorly with Freeza's design. Moreover, the inconsistent art in Super has really soured my already under plight feelings about the form.

I don't really like Hatchiyack or Broly. They're both silly hulking masses of yelling.

The whole SSJG = Skinny Kaio-Ken thing holds no water really.

The only similarity is that they are a shade of red.

Kaio-Ken's aura is explosive and almost out of control looking with a near purplish red meanwhile SSJG has a calm flame like aura that borders closer to a magenta shading.





I really fail to see how anyone can say these look similar to each other. If you dont like SSJG thats fine but at least give a complaint thats accurate.

From a fan perspective, if you had seen all of Z and just sat down to watch Battle of Gods FOR THE FIRST TIME (or just took a look at the cover), wouldn't one the first thoughts that run through your head be "Huh? That looks like the Kaioken."

Seeing as I've read the whole manga and saw the entire old Z anime, no. I saw Super Saiyan God and saw Super Saiyan God because it looks almost nothing like Kaio-Ken.

I really do think Toriyama has a knack for character design. Even his movie designs are pretty cool, and when he colors them they look quite nice.

That said, when someone else works with the designs of the movie characters, it usually doesn't go over very well. The colors on 13, 14, and 15 are off (I think 14 should look closer to Bora's colors and 15 more colored like Black, Merged 13 should be a mix of all 3 or just use 13's colors), the overly buff forms for Broly and Bojack don't sit well for me (I'm still trying to figure out if Toriyama even intended LSSJ Broly to be buff just by the art on the website, mostly for art purposes), and I'm not too fond of Super Saiyan Broly's blue hair.

In fact, a lot of the non-Toriyama-designed movie villains don't cut it for me, with the exception of the main villains like Garlic Jr. and Tullece. They come across as pretty... generic to me. I do like Coola's Fifth Form, though.

But going by villains only then I would have to say G. Freeza. His design would have been great if TOEI was promoting a Lakers game. But other than that its pretty bad.

And I'm one of them. Guy next to me scratched his head how in da blue moon can Super Kaioken (the one Goku used against Pikkon in OtherWorld Tournament) keep-up with Beerus that just trashed SSJ3 Goku moments ago. I shrugged

This. They aren't awful, they just didn't do a lot for me. I've also never been a big fan of the designs for the Android 13, Cooler and Garlic Jr "max power" forms. Something about those transformations makes them lose a lot of their character for me personally, particularly in Cooler's case. Those three villains just become less interesting for me to watch. All of Cell's, Freeza's, and Buu's transformations did a good job keeping their base character relevant while also evolving it into new design.

Purple/Green/Blue SSJ Broly. I preferred him as a regular SSJ in Movie 10, which led to a form so different (LSSJ) that I didn't need its base to be farther from the norm.

Funny you say that because those are some of my favorite designs

I would have to say SSJG for my least favorite. The only thing I really like is he auras. Otherwise just a really underwhelming design for a 'God' form. Same with Golden Freeza. They're all pallet swaps.

I much prefer SSJ4 and a 5th form Cooler-like design for the RF movie forms
