That means you didn't like the movies as well bog & rof aswell what are you doing wasting your time on a db forum, as far as super story goes it's a rehash of the movies you can't say super is complete garbage until new content story is in the mid session or close to ending......

I'm just participating in the topic. I always find reviews or certain topics in forums biased depending on what's being asked. Realistically if you didn't like dragon Ball super then you wouldn't waste your time visiting forums. So this topic in a sense will have mostly people that A) like dragon Ball super or B) people that like it enough to keep watching. But the other side will probably never be heard. Because like you said it's kind of a waste of time.Ssgvegito30 wrote:That means you didn't like the movies as well bog & rof aswell what are you doing wasting your time on a db forum, as far as super story goes it's a rehash of the movies you can't say super is complete garbage until new content story is in the mid session or close to ending......
For me anyways I'm just upset I guess and decided to voice my frustrations here.

My buddy told me the other day the same thing when I complained about the nipple character and bear characters in the Champa tournament. He said that the story has always been simple and that Toriyama has always made silly chaeacters.SSJ3 Vegeta wrote:What's wrong w/ the story ? He has final say and he alone can set a standard for the series.
Did you just copy what the other guy have said ?Lord Beerus wrote:Yeah the story for me is a real killer. There's so many aspect of dbs that sound great on paper but it's executed horribly. All I have to say to that is... that wasn't always the case. The very 1st arc, the Seiyan arc had everything well thought out. All the characters were important to the plot. You had serious moments like the sacrifice of Piccolo saving Gohan. You had improbable enemies turn allies. There was friendships bonded from places you would of never expected. The training sessions between Gohan and Piccolo gave depth to the story. Everything about that arc was well done. Basically I agree with the people that are of the idea the Namek Saga was Toriyamas real ending. It makes sense with how well thought out everything was up to that point.
I just like things to be a little more serious and deep. that's why to this day I have the future trunks movie as my all time favorite.
I'll watch the Champa arc though.. let's see what happens
Re: Anybody already stopped watching Super?
Just take a look around and you will see that most people dislike Super. I think it's quite the opposite. People who like it barely comment because any thought they could put out would be burried in a sea of hate, which also lets the impression that people who DO like the show either are morons or, at the very least, have very bad tastes.julianix wrote:I'm just participating in the topic. Okay, stop right there. The story of Dragon Ball did not start with the introduction of Raditz. Toriyama had been writing Dragon Ball for over three years before he brought in Raditz. The Saiyan arc was in no way the "very first arc". It was more like the sixth. (1st DB search, Goku's training with the Turtle Sage and the subsequent tournament, the Red Ribbon Army, the second tournament with Tenshinhan, and Piccolo's attempts at world domination. And you could break some of those into more sub-arcs too.)julianix wrote:All I have to say to that is... that wasn't always the case. The very 1st arc, the Seiyan arc had everything well thought out.

Haha, but I thought all of the original Dragon Ball was just the cast sitting around waiting for Radditz to show up!

OG Dragon Ball can be divided into 6 arcs and it takes up third of the manga/anime. I'm sorry, but if you haven't seen it, you're not a real fan, there's just no excuse at this point. But, this is off-topic and i don't wanna get banned, so i'll stop here.

Actually I think Kuririn Fan got a valuable point. It's a shame for fans nowadays still be only stick with DBZ story and ignore the original DB , what I like in this forum is that most people here see Dragon Ball as a whole with no divisions like the anime.Lord Beerus wrote:That's a little bit unfair to say, don't you think?

Re: Anybody already stopped watching Super?
Personally I enjoy it way more than I thought I would after the Beerus arc. Honestly the only episodes of Super I disliked were the second half of 1, second half of 2 (I think?), 6 (I think?), and the one where Goku and Beerus have dragon aura and clash single punches (no idea the number).
I disliked those episodes mainly due to either being not interested too much in what was going on, OR because I wasn't a fan of Beerus's portrayal in contrast to the movie. He came off a lot more like a villain than he did in the movie; even when he threaten to destroy earth, I never felt he was actually evil in the movie, just a force of nature. In Super he destroys a half a planet that served him food (in the manga he destroys it for his hosts attempting to poison him, which doesn't happen in the show). The way he treats Vegeta when greeting him, the flash back, etc.. Just didn't dig it.
But other wise, I've enjoyed Super a lot. It's something I'm actually having fun watching. The "filler" is great, Goku bursting through a wall, taking a punch from Mr Satan, Gohan playing hero with his daughter and father in-law. And the stuff in the RF arc, I enjoyed Krillin getting a moment to show how far he's come. Gohan powering up after piccolo's death, Vegeta's moment of retribution. Ginyu finally getting an unexpected close to his arc. Tagome getting more time. It's just been fun. There's stuff I wish was done a little differently, and it's not all gold, but the good in my book has outweighed the bad.

I was referring to the 1st arc in Dragon Ball Z. I'm well aware of Dragon Ball, not sure why anyone would assume someone isn't a real fan for that.Kuririn Fan wrote:OG Dragon Ball can be divided into 6 arcs and it takes up third of the manga/anime. Re: Anybody already stopped watching Super?
So that's what you got out of my post? An obvious technical error don't you think? I'm well aware of Dragon Ball. I suppose I could of made a point for the end of Dragon Ball to build my case. That was another example of well executed story and character development. I think that's when I really started to like Dragon Ball and why I watched dbz.Vegard Aune wrote:Okay, stop right there. Re: Anybody already stopped watching Super?
If someone does not even read the full manga, then they are not real fans at all. You can just call them casual fans, liking a part of the story. Toriyama' s story is dragonball not dragonball and then dbz, it was toei that named the anime z. Toriyama just continued his story in one manga which had 519 chapters.julianix wrote: not sure why anyone would assume someone isn't a real fan for that.

Who the fuck cares how much or for what reasons someone enjoys a series, or portions of it, if they want to discuss it with others? The only time I remotely see this mattering is if they go out of their way to make claims about the story when they're not familiar with it.Sodhi wrote:If someone does not even read the full manga, then they are not real fans at all. Also, Toriyama's story is something he wrote for personal amusement and the excitement of his readers on a weekly basis for ten years, and which no doubt found rotating audiences throughout its run. It's amazing that it's as consistent as it is, and absolutely open to more nuanced discussion, but let's maintain perspective here. This is not art that he created to be viewed and digested in full.

Thats why they are just casual fans not real fans.Cipher wrote: Who the fuck cares how much or for what reasons someone enjoys a series, or portions of it, if they want to discuss it with others? No author/creator creates an art and expect "Real Fans" to just read/watch a part of it. I can understand that if they were two separate mangas. However they are not and books are meant to be read in full, same goes to mangas or a movie or even a tv show(skipping filler of course).Cipher wrote: Also, Toriyama's story is something he wrote for personal amusement and the excitement of his readers on a weekly basis for ten years, and which no doubt found rotating audiences throughout its run. Super to me is just getting started with the Champa arc. I think watching it now is a good time to jump in.

Re: Anybody already stopped watching Super?
I previously stopped watching Super since it was (to me) a lower quality retelling of the movies. Now, even though I'm interested in what's going on, I'm waiting for the English dub. Nothing against the Japanese cast, but I've just grown too accustomed to the Funi cast and unless it's their voices coming out of the characters, it's just not the same characters to me. Same with how many feel with Nozawa and Goku.
