Well Sabat does a shit load of VO's for FUNI and I guarentee between the marketing he does for FUNI and all of the VO's he does for FUNI he isnt hurting for cash but yeah I hope FUNI fixes this soon or at the least give the series up to Geneon or someone respectable in the anime business that knows how to release a great anime series

And is it me or does it seem like DB/Z/GT is the only anime series FUNI owns that they fuck up so badly on when it comes to releasing the series with the way that they edit things?? because I dont think fruit baskets, FMA or Trinity Blood goes through this shit??

well, I'm buying this set regardless, heres why:

1. I'm from the uk, i never bought the UUC's, there for never have watched the vegeta saga under funimation.

2. i want to see the vegeta saga in its new remastered state on my television.

3. i would like to view the whole vegeta saga in the funi dub.

4. i dont have any of the saiyan or namek sagas on dvd, and minus the cropping, this is the best i can get of those 2 sagas on dvd, and also for cheapest price, while 30 dollars for u guys, its more like 16 - 20 for me. (which is even cheaper)

5. i would like to experience dbz with english vo and japanese music.

I highly doubt that FUNimation will ever give up this series. They make too much money off of DBZ that they will never even think of letting the series go. All that brings up a question... Could Toei revoke FUNimation's license if they wanted to?

Not if they are making a ton of money from it. I mean, nobody wants to lose money right?

If Toei could, I whish they would because this is just getting out of hand its almost the same with the of re-releasing of Evangelion from ADV, but at least ADV doesnt alter the anime in anyway.

No nobody wants to lose money. Toei revoking FUNi's license was just wishful thinking on my part.

Well dont get down! I mean things could always be worse. The season box sets could be $80 and without the japanese voiceovers.

I don't think even most regular TV season sets sell for that much... the most I've seen is about $60 for any random set... o__o;
Art, etc. links taken down for now. Will be updated at some point. I dunno.

Well considering the amount of complaining the seasons are getting now, I cant imagine what would happen if they ran for $80.

(Getting on topic) To those who are planning on buying Season 1: After seeing the samples in this thread, are you planning on buying the rest of the boxsets (if they plan on doing the whole show that is)?

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

That would be better. More complaints and less sales = more chance of them fixing it.

Yeah I got season 1 and I still plan on buying the rest of the seasons. I didnt really notice the cropping to the point of not enjoying it. I mean it doesnt kill me to see only half of Son Gokus boot. I dont think its perfect, but its better then the other U.S. DVDs

I'll most likely get the Nameck set along with this one, just because you can't get those as singles. As for future DBZ anime buys, I might get at least on of the R2s if I ever get a region free player. If not, then I'll just get FUNi's singles of my favorite episodes that I don't have yet (Off of the top of my head, those singles would be the ones with SSJ2 Gohan vs. Cell and Majin Vegeta's death).

Yes, I want the entire series on DVD (since I sold my collection of the VHS 5 years ago..so stupid of me). So I'll be buying the upcoming sets.

Most likely. The image is sharper than I thought it would be. I don't have the rest of the series on DVD. It's dirt cheap. The cropping is a tad bit bothersome, but I think the pros far outweigh the cons. This is the best we'll be getting for a while. I tell you what, though. If they release it in a better format in say, five years, I'm never purchasing anything from camp Funimation again.
