You know, you didn't do anything wrong so I don't see why you should apologize. I was thinking the same thing as you. But now that we're here, I have a question for everyone reading this, Did anyone of you became a Fan of Dragon Ball or knew of its existence in the 80's? If you're Japanese, or grew up in Japan during that time, this doesn't apply to you, but if we're talking strictly about American fan base, then there's no way to find out what was the reaction from fans during the original release time frame different from asking a Japanese fan. And back then, it was nearly impossible to compile reactions (I am looking at you FINEBROS) from the viewers and opinions. All we know are general things like the show was huge in Japan. We on the other hand, we do have the means to compile our feelings towards the show.
My mother lived in Japan from 1985-1987 and while she wasn't a fan she did remember what it was when I got into it. She said it was a very werid and strange show (though that may be because she doesn't speak Japanese :P )

It debuted on TV3 but later on, there were some problems

I'm not sure, but I think that the first channel to air it was TVG.

For those wondering what the article says, They either wanted DB to be cancelled or moved to a different more adult time slot. Near the end they gave the reasons why the show was criticized and they basically quoted their own dub:
" It's been a long time since I wanted to kill somebody! What a feeling! Come on, I'll let you shoot the old man, Come on man, shoot, it's an order!"
"This is a fucking joke, right? As I said, we're going to kill a bunch more"

I wonder...from which scene are those quotes emanating from?

That sounds like the two guys in the Boo arc who go around murdering people for fun.

The fandom is different across the board. We all got into the franchise in different ways, but we all love it regardless. I see too much bickering and fighting amongst fans, but we really need to learn to accept the fact that not everyone has the same preferences as us.

I'm pretty sure there are some hidden gems found in alt.fan.dragonball. You just need to sift through the hundreds of spam posts.
