Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
It's a non-traditional tournament setup. Assuming captains are last on each team, the minimum number of fights we can have is five...and Episode 34 makes it sound like Team Beerus is about to lose its second contestant in only two episodes if Piccolo's already relying on his trump card (and they were already down one before the fights began).
It feels a little rushed, just from this. But it's really hard to say without watching first.

I have been thinking about it a lot and I'm convinced as i have said before piccolo will win because if he dont then it will be 4 vs 2 and vegeta will have to win 2 to bring it back evenTheDevilsCorpse wrote:It's a non-traditional tournament setup. I sure hope Vegeta teases Goku for losing so fast.
One episode per fight is fine, specially if they restrain the commentary and reactions from the audience. The recap episode makes me think the next few will be action heavy.
The first fights might be shorter since the opponents might not be that important for the future. Botamo and Frost might never appear after this arc, imitating the early round fighter from the TB.

I'm hoping that's not the case. Freeza's resurrection was a prime opportunity to delve into more world building, especially for his race, and we got squat. (They probably will, but) I don't want them to waste that opportunity again with Frost.LightBing wrote:Botamo and Frost might never appear after this arc, imitating the early round fighter from the TB.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
If Goku keeps the line from the manga about him being enough for Champa's team then him losing right away is a big middle finger after Golden Freeza.
Would you want Monaka to have two fights? (three would be too much) I'd like him to easily defeat whoever defeats Vegeta and then struggle with the last one (probably Hit).

I think the episode title for episode 34 is misleading, i think piccolo fights frost and someone like goku or vegeta says that we have to bet on piccolo's powerful special beam cannon to win the match but actually he has a new power up or attack that surprises everyone. we will probably know before the episode comes out because the manga chapter should get leaked by the 18th February and that episode on the 6th march

I want all the fights to be intense and epic and no one shots and i expect all fighters to be about the same levelalakazam^ wrote:If Goku keeps the line from the manga about him being enough for Champa's team then him losing right away is a big middle finger after Golden Freeza.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
So today, I met Sonny Strait. I'm in his current voice acting class.
But I decided to ask him some questions about Dragon Ball and... well, ok.
After today's class, I was talking to Sonny about Buu Kai... He at first told me he was not at liberty to say, but I started to say, "Well I heard that the reason why it isn't being released is because of Toei. Is this true?" He thought a while and said, "Well, it just takes a while to sort these things out." I said, "Well, I'm super excited!" His response? "Oh yeah. I guess you could say that I'm...SUPER excited." Dragon Ball Super dub confirmed? Lol. Probably not but still, funny.

-About the new episode titles-
Piccolo vs Frost?! Called it. It was the only good choice anyway.
But, we're going to the tournament already?! Why rush things... Are they confident they won't screw up the battles?!
I was hoping for more episodes in this 5 days gap... They could show Beerus/Whis quest for Monaka and more training of Goku (besides what is in the manga) and the others.
We should take our time.

A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

So yeah I'm assuming that whoever was first in that promotional poster on each team will fight each other, whoever second and so on. Only thing that git in the way was goku and botamo but that's because buu got kicked. So kyabe Vs vegeta. Goku Vs hit. Piccolo Vs frost. Monika Vs maggeta
Disclaimer: I might get into a disagreement with you. Sometimes I might even get feisty about it. I'll never harbor negative feelings because of it though. I hope you feel the same way!Jinzoningen MULE wrote: Maybe I should start making it a point not to comment when I'm not sure of something. Too many people know what they're talking about around here.
I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Super has had enough filler-esque episodes. I'm glad they're going straight to the battles.FortuneSSJ wrote:-About the new episode titles-

I'm just upset the fights only last one episode each (presumably).
"Dragon Ball once became a thing of the past to me, but after that, I got angry about the live action movie, re-wrote an entire movie script, and now I'm complaining about the quality of the new TV anime. It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
It is somewhat disappointing, all those things you mentioned could potentially make great episodes. I hope they don't waste the opportunity at the tournament to have the audience interact. There's almost the whole cast there, I'm expecting some comedy gold. It would have to be well written of course, not FnF battle interruptions like we had in a couple of episodes.FortuneSSJ wrote:-About the new episode titles-

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I'm a bit torn on it personally. Filler episodes, up until the beginning of the Champa/Universe 6 arc, were actually the highlight of the show and were handled surprisingly very well. I certainly wouldn't mind to see more supplementary material before the tournament gets under way, but at the same time, the Champa/Universe 6 arc, and Universe 6/Universe 7 Tournament specifically, is what I've looking forward to the most in Super and I kinda want to get the battles as soon as possible.FortuneSSJ wrote:-About the new episode titles-

Two episodes for a fight is enough. Gokuu bersus Botamo does not need to be very long, especially when it is the first fight in the tournament.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
What a f***? Super Saiyan? Will Goku transform into a common SSJ to fight Botamo? He can still do that? I mean didn't they meant "Be Surprised, Universe 6! This is Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Son Goku"?Sodhi wrote:#33 says "Be Surprised, Universe 6! This is Super Saiyan Son Goku"
And also why the heck is people thinking that Goku will lose or will be tie?
Seriously that would be a turn off, I know Toriyama like to play the unpredictable, but this would be boring, I want to see him face Hit.

I hope Piccolo uses the Hellzone Grenade against Frost. I mean nobody has seen it except 17 who isn't even at the tournament and 18 who I guess would be watching.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan/Super Saiyan Blue is the new upgraded version of regular Super Saiyan. Like when Goku mastered the form, and it was upgraded to Super Saiyan Full Power, but they still called it just Super Saiyan. Even in the FnF movie, they just call it Super Saiyan.Noah wrote:What a f***? Super Saiyan? Will Goku transform into a common SSJ to fight Botamo? He can still do that? Piccolo is fighting Frost. If it's Piccolo's turn, this means that Goku lost his fight, and if it's Frost's turn, it means Botamo lost his fight. Since Piccolo may have a chance to beat Frost with the Makankosappo (according to the title), it should be impossible for Frost to have defeated Goku. Which is why most of us expect Goku vs Botamo to end with a tie.And also why the heck is people thinking that Goku will lose or will be tie?![]()
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

The way they phrase it makes me think U6 Saiyans have different forms.
Or maybe it's just wishful thinking. Heck I will even take some awful green-hair recolor, as long as it's not exactly the same new red/blue forms Goku & Vegeta already have.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I doubt Goku loses because his opponent is stronger, something comedic probably happens instead. I also don't think the tournament is going to last very long, or even come close to finishing. My guess is that it gets interrupted by someone who is after the Super Dragon Balls, and one of the universe 6 contestants is working for this person, probably Hit.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I still think that domed arena being impervious to Champa's ki blasts means it's possible everyone's getting trapped in there at some point
