James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Here's a handful from the Namek ArcDBZGTKOSDH wrote: When exactly?
Chapter: 270 (DBZ 76), P12.5
Narrator: “Even Goku hasn’t realized…That somewhere along the line he’s acquired enough power to surpass the level of Saiyan limits…”
Chapter: 289 (DBZ 95), P6.1-2
Context: after Jheese freaks out over Vegeta's new battle power
Vegeta: “That’s right…I’ve surpassed Saiyan limits, and my strength is still increasing more and more…The truth is that I’ve realized it too…That this extension of my power isn’t merely what you’d call giftedness…In other words…I’m steadily drawing near…to becoming a Super Saiyan!”
Chapter: 306 (DBZ 112), P12.2
Context: after he fully heals
Goku: “I’ve gotten strong! My power just keeps gushing forth…! Unbelievable…! And here I thought I was already about at my limits…This is enough to scare even me…”
Chapter: 307 (DBZ 113), P8.2-3
Vegeta: “He’s not the same Kakarot as before…S-seems he’s finally overcome the wall of his limits…Is he a Super Saiyan…!?”
Chapter: 309 (DBZ 115), P2.1
Context: after learning that Freeza killed Vegeta and is fighting Goku
Yamcha: “Da…damn it…That bastard’s too much for even Goku…”
Kaio: “They’re having a good match…[ ] The Saiyans are an odd group…No, maybe it’s just Goku…His strength has no limit…He’s like a completely different person than when he trained here…I don’t really understand him…”
Chapter: 295 (DBZ 101), P13.5-6, P14.1
Context: after Freeza and Vegeta grapple for awhile, after Vegeta said they could win
Freeza: “I see…Seems that wasn’t a complete lie…”
Gohan: “It-it’s true…! If we 3 fight together, we might really be able to manage something…H-he really is absolutely incredible, but we’ve gotten better too…!”
Kuririn: “I-I see…! Since coming here Vegeta’s acquired such strength that he seems to have even further surpassed his limits…B-but…F-Freeza is oddly calm…Why?...”
And then more recently we had Goku break into the realm of the gods, something he thought he wouldn't have ever been able to do on his own, but then right after that Vegeta does so on his own.
The "limits" talks in Dragon Ball are literally meaningless.

So, what are the odds Piccolo's made any noteworthy strength gains after training with Gohan? None or f*ck all?

Well, we saw him even with Base Gohan in those few seconds. He's either been upgrade to SSJ2 tier or if Gohan has recovered his ultimate powers without SSJ, high SSJ3 tier. That's pretty decent.ekrolo2 wrote:So, what are the odds Piccolo's made any noteworthy strength gains after training with Gohan? None or f*ck all?

I would say Piccolo is near SSJ3 tier, after the training with Gohan. They've been training for some months now, seeing as Kuririn is back with a nice haircut.
I would bet that Gohan regained most if not all his ultimate powers. Piccolo is like the best teacher, sparring partner of the entire Dragon Ball series.

Didn't Piccolo's power always increase at a faster rate that the others?

Re: Dragon Ball Super: Power Level Discussion Thread
Nothing suggests Piccolo is at SSJ3 tier. Unless he has a trick up his sleeve against Frost. And, I'm sorry, but Piccolo is not the best teach or sparring partner in the Dragon Ball series. The title of "Best Teacher" goes to Whis for what he did for Goku and Vegeta and the title of "Best Sparring Partner" should go to Goku for the phenomenal gains that Gohan made when training with him in the ROSAT in the Cell arc.Roronoa-pt wrote:I would say Piccolo is near SSJ3 tier, after the training with Gohan. I do think Piccolo is the best teacher. Just because Whis is a god-like being and teached Goku and & Vegeta how to use god KI doesn't mean he's the best teacher, don't forget he is the most powerful being so far in the DBS series! Piccolo trained with Gohan for three times now, he even teached Goten and Trunks how to fuse, Piccolo has a much bigger role in the Dragon Ball as a teacher/mentor than Whis.
As the sparring partner, you have a point, I completly forgot about the training in ROSAT.
Re: Dragon Ball Super: Power Level Discussion Thread
Also don't forget Piccolo has also absorbed Kami, who was a teacher for Goku and the other Z Fighters.

He can be anywhere from perfect cell level to buuhan level & still be unable to keep up with goku & vegeta.ekrolo2 wrote:So, what are the odds Piccolo's made any noteworthy strength gains after training with Gohan? None or f*ck all?
But this is nameless namek, who increases at a slower rate than others.Bullza wrote:Didn't Piccolo's power always increase at a faster rate that the others?
I think the fusion with kami did worse for him than good (except his life is independent on kami's life).
Re: Dragon Ball Super: Power Level Discussion Thread
He was seemingly even with [regular-form] Gohan and, given Goku's reaction, Gohan should be stronger than when he fought Freeza.ekrolo2 wrote:So, what are the odds Piccolo's made any noteworthy strength gains after training with Gohan? None or f*ck all?

Maybe Base Gohan and Piccolo are both about Perfect Cell level now, or higher. That'd be pretty cool.Hugo Boss wrote:He was seemingly even with [regular-form] Gohan and, given Goku's reaction, Gohan should be stronger than when he fought Freeza.ekrolo2 wrote:So, what are the odds Piccolo's made any noteworthy strength gains after training with Gohan? Re: Dragon Ball Super: Power Level Discussion Thread
You must be tripping, bro. He went from being equal to Android 17 to beating standby Perfect Cell or at the very least Semi-Perfect Cell (depending on where you place the Cell Juniors) in just one year in RoSaT. If he kept training seriously, he'd have no problem at all equalling Cell Games SSj2 Gohan given enough time IMO. He went from like 1,6 million vs Freeza to at least 100x that against Gero in 3 years of training. Piccolo has beastly training efficiency.Hugo Boss wrote:He was seemingly even with [regular-form] Gohan and, given Goku's reaction, Gohan should be stronger than when he fought Freeza.ekrolo2 wrote:So, what are the odds Piccolo's made any noteworthy strength gains after training with Gohan? Re: Dragon Ball Super: Power Level Discussion Thread
That evaporated the second he fused with Kami. If Piccolo really had anything left in him, Toriyama would've kept him relevant afterwards instead of chucking him into the fodder bin with everyone else who doesn't have spiky hair that turns blonde, red or blue.Saturnine wrote:You must be tripping, bro. Ok. It just seems that along with universe 6 the gap between not divine ki use and divine ki use characters may shrink or be estabilished as smaller. Anyway I would like to post my my thoughts about where would Vegito stands in it. I will base my thoughts on buu arc ssj vegito > bog rage ssj2 vegeta, so here I go.
1. We know that beerus used 10% to one shot rage ssj2 vegeta. I believe the gap would be at least x2 for beerus on 10% to one shot rage ssj2 vegeta.
