Full color volumes: Small or Large?

Post by Wezenheim » Fri Feb 05, 2016 8:38 pm

Silly thread title aside, I'm curious: do you guys prefer the large U.S. release of the Full Color manga volumes or do you prefer the size of the Japanese releases, which are about the same as a normal sized tankobon?

I think both sizes have their benefits, but I actually think I like the size of the U.S. volumes. I like how the images are larger and how it feels just a little more unique compared to other releases, it stands out a bit more on the shelf. I like the small size too, but I think Viz did a good job with the product all around.

What do you guys think?

I own the first Full Color volume in a size identical to the Japanese release, and I'm quite happy with it. I tend to prefer Tankobon size over Kanzenban size anyway.

Larger the better for me. Trying to scan panels from those small Japanese books is annoying.

Large size. No doubt.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

The larger size is a huge plus. US graphic novels are almost as large as a Jump magazine.

Larger size, for sure. I purchased both, not realizing just how small the Japanese one would be. Boy, was I shocked. Way too small, in my opinion, especially for a full color release which is meant to be oohed and aahed over.

I only have one of Viz's Full Color volumes (definitely want to change that soon), but I really like the larger print size. Makes the color more of an experience and helps me to appreciate the artwork even more than I usually do.

If I could, I'd just get mine in digital. I like to have the colors on hand for reference on artwork.
