The voice acting was different for the japanese original as well? Also keep in mind, the music from Kai got us a lawsuit. The Filler was cut off but not substantially. There was still some filler there. Kai didn't bring anything new to the franchise in my opinion.Xeztin wrote:They are different entries in the franchise, and while being the same show they have their major differences also. I also noticed that most of the people here put Kai as a different entity aside from DBZ. Why?

Re: What is your favorite DB series ?
For me, it's hard to separate the run of the series as it appeared in the Manga, so basically I see everything from Pilaf to Boo as one series rather than two.
For that reason, I'd go like this:
1: DB + Kai
2: DBZA
3: DBZ
4: DB Super
5: Popo's stool
6: The Worms inside of the dirt
7: The Dirt
8: GT
With the exception of Kai and obviously DBZA, my preference is for the Japanese version.

Abridged? is that what Number 2 is? Really?DemonRin wrote:For me, it's hard to separate the run of the series as it appeared in the Manga, so basically I see everything from Pilaf to Boo as one series rather than two.

Re: What is your favorite DB series ?
Db and dbz those two are the reason why db is the global juggernaut that it is today. Kai was alright gt was a piece of shit good ideas shit execution super is pretty much gt 2.0 at this point hopefully the new material can change that.
Re: What is your favorite DB series ?
Really cause so far people been saying that gt is much better than super hell most of the threads on the super board have comments that are mostly negative about the anime.SSJ2FutureGohan wrote:My list:

2. Dragon Ball Kai
3. Dragon Ball Z
4. Dragon Ball GT | Dragon Ball Super (about equalish to me)
I'm just curious, what is it about DBS that people find to make it so great? I'm not saying you're wrong for having that opinion, but I find the people who praise it so much while attack GT fail to see that similarities between the two shows. Both are loaded with inconsistencies, both wank Goku to no end, and both are just lazy. The only reason I feel people will even claim that DBS is so much better than GT is just because Toriyama wrote it.

Leave her be Mr succesor, its her opinion. Its her life and her decision.
Re: What is your favorite DB series ?
Your right it didn't bring anything new to the table, in my view I see it as a different anime series simply because its cutting filler. Its taking away instead of adding from Z and thats why I separate it if that makes sense? Also Super is a continuation of Kai and filler characters (well most) are absent. I guess the way I look at it is DB manga- db anime-Kai-Super. On the other hand I got Z-GT-movies. My separating them as different series is basically based on my two lines of head canon. Having said that, I definitely see your point of view as well!successoroffate wrote:The voice acting was different for the japanese original as well? It's probably ranked according to how much enjoyment and entertainment he gets out of them.successoroffate wrote:Abridged? is that what Number 2 is? Re: What is your favorite DB series ?
1. DB Kai
2. DBZ
3. DB
4. DBGT
Not including Super in my list until it's finished airing and I can reflect upon the series as a whole. Also not bringing up sub/dub or preference of musical score.

Since the release of Kai, I haven't touched Z for the most part. I will occasionally pull out My DBoxes and watch a bit of it, but it's usually only an episode or two at a time, or I'm specifically trying to look at something in the original version and compare it.
Anytime I have an earnest desire to rewatch the series, I watch DB for Pilaf through Piccolo Jr. (obviously) and then go straight into Kai exclusively.
DBZA, meanwhile, I enjoy for entirely different reasons, but enjoy it just as much, so it has gotten multiple viewings out of me. (especially "Cooler 2: The Return of Cooler's Revenge - The Reckoning". Best thing they've ever done.)
To be fair, if Kai didn't exist I probably wouldn't have Z be below DBZA but... it does.... knowing what DBZ can be like with better pacing has lessened the original in my eyes, even if I still love it.

1 - DBZ
2 - DB
3 - DBGT
4 - DBKai
The reason why Kai is in the bottom it's because I consider it an inferior version of Z. Sure it has a much better pacing, but that doesn't make up for the censorship and the horrible soundtrack. I also got used and love most DBZ fillers. The only filler arc I still have problems nowadays is the Wedding Dress arc, and that's not from DBZ.
For DBZ, Goku vs Freeza lenght is the only fight that stills bothers me, but I got used to it after so many rewatches.

Abridged doesn't count, it's a parody.
The biggest truths aren't original. The truth is ketchup. It's Jim Belushi. Its job isn't to blow our minds. It's to be within reach.

If it doesn't "Count" then just ignore it from any list it's on.
