Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Good to see DB is doing 10X better than before. To think that fans think that Super will end soon after the Champa arc which seems very unlikely at this point.

I don't understand why it would end at the Champa arc, that'd be hyping the series up for nothing and really only 1 arc since the first 2 are movie rehashes. What would be the point of introducing 12 universes if we didn't even explore the 6th? Or why not introduce only the 6th? I think Toriyama just gave us 10 years worth of material and basically is writing this final arc and letting Toei take over.(Could be writing the end of Goku's adventures, meaning new cast) We'll never know if Toriyama is or is not apart of the future material just like we don't know if he's writing the manga or anime. It's all about that money, and if he set us up with 10 years+ content then Toriyama will forever be set with royalties and Toei will rake in the cash as well. (Not that that both parties aren't set already) At the end of the day, I'm pretty sure Toei doesn't care about what makes sense and what doesn't as long as it makes profit just like with them releasing some bad episodes of Super. Could we end up with another GT? Possibly, but I don't see them not trying.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
It just vaguely talks about Goku and co.'s training and preparation for the tournament.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I'm happy with that; I was worried we weren't going to see any training at all with how they spent all of last week on the Zuno trip. I want to see some sparring.LuckyCat wrote:It just vaguely talks about Goku and co.'s training and preparation for the tournament.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I think Toei knows that they need Toriyama to write the story in order to attract the most fans. BoG wasn't popular just because it was the first DBZ movie in almost 20 years but the fact that it was written by Toriyama and in the same continuity as the manga. DB Heroes is a weird story that makes no sense, full of fan service, and has a new cast but I don't think it's doing so well on its own. I think the end of the Champa saga will give us a better idea of what Toriyama might do in the future. I agree that there are still 10 other universes to explore but, after early Dragonball, the series was more about fighting than exploration and even then it was to find the Dragonballs not for the sake of exploring the world. I honestly don't expect each universe to have its own saga or for Toei to explore them all on their own if Toriyama retires.Xeztin wrote:I don't understand why it would end at the Champa arc, that'd be hyping the series up for nothing and really only 1 arc since the first 2 are movie rehashes. I think it might go something like this. Toriyama said before that Goku won't be using SSJ2 and SSJ3 due to the energy drain but maybe the point of the whole "don't let your ki leak out" lesson from Whis was so they can master these forms. Vegeta said that they were close to their limits before they entered the Hyperbolic Time Chamber so that either means they're going to find new ways to push SSJ Blue or find a new transformation. I think they might unlock SSJ2 Blue during this saga, SSJ3 Blue in the next, and finally fuse into Vegetto in the next or final saga. If they end up close to be the strongest in U6 and U7 by the end of the saga then the next one will likely involve strong fighters from other universes. Instead of going to one universe at a time there might be a huge conflict that spans across multiple universes or all of them. The characters of other universes explain some of the backstory of their own home while they prepare for whatever conflict brought them together but that might be it.

So do Goku and Vegeta never wash their gi's, or...? I'm sure that Whis' sharpie mark logo would have gone away if washed this many times...
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Even if we let aside the other Universes - i'm really not sure whether we're ever going there - this arc seems to be setting up a lot of themes that go beyond the tournament and will require some time. For instance:Skar wrote:I think Toei knows that they need Toriyama to write the story in order to attract the most fans. - Beerus' unpredictability and Bulma worrying about his future actions
- Beerus wondering if Whis is preparing Goku and Vegeta to face him one day
- Planet Salad, Vegeta wanting to go there, the U6 Saiyans
- Frost, his transformations and influence as the emperor of U6
- Gohan's training and change of attitude begs for payoff
- where is the last Super Dragon Ball, who is the God of Dragons, are he and Zarama the same person?
- the wish and possible consequences
I'm ignoring other things that need exposition (Monaka's strength, who is Hit and why is he getting 'main villain focus" in all the promotional material) because those could be explored in the tournament itself, i guess. There's also the U6 Earth, that i have the feeling will be relevant. And i'm probably forgetting others.
Still, assuming all these things were Toriyama's ideas, i'm sure he either wrote a very long draft, or he's planning to come back if asked. And Toei/Bandai will be glad to pay him for more, if the performance keeps up.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I think as long if Dragon Ball is doing well, Super will last for a very long time. I feel like that they won't care if they go after 5 years after Buu and before the end of the DBZ. Not to mention, they will probably will have to go beyond DBZ too. As long if the show is doing well, continuity is not a major issue for Toei, Bandai and Shueisha.

And really the only people who would even care care about eoz of being erased is just an very small minority of hardcore fans.
have you guys seen some of the comments about eoz on yo tube and some other db forums? A lot of people hate it.
And GT is completely irrelevant so it does not even matter.
And since the current new generation of people watching DBS does not even care about gt or eoz they both are completely irrelevant.

I get the feeling the sparring we see between Goku and Vegeta will indeed be very short, so I hope we do go back to a flashback and see some of the training done.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I feel like it's gonna be short too. T_T I felt even their training on Beerus' planet was short; but maybe it's just because I'm so used to Z's slower pace that Super's training periods seem like they're flying by.Retan wrote:I get the feeling the sparring we see between Goku and Vegeta will indeed be very short, so I hope we do go back to a flashback and see some of the training done.

You guys are both right, I also think it will be short(especially Dbz standards), as they have to 2nd half of chapter 7 and almost all of chapter 8 before the fight. Unless the things in titles happen at the very last moments of the episode. I just pray its not like piccolo and gohan training session, that was not even 20 secs. I will take anything not less than 4-5 minutes.Chuquita wrote:I feel like it's gonna be short too. Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I would like them to explore these points but I don't think it would take up that many episodes even if they did. We have to remember that Toriyama never really paid attention to details or the inner workings of his universe. We still don't know much about Freeza, his race, or his empire. We just know he rules over most of the universe and that he has his minions conquer planets in order to sell them. Based on some interviews, we know that Freeza and King Cold are mutants of their race but that's basically it. We don't know who Freeza sells these plants to or what he's selling them for. Some form of space currency? Food? Trading them for something he wants? I think most of these, if they are answered, might be through conversations with the other contestants. There might be an episode or two showing Vegeta visiting Planet Salad and meeting the other Saiyans but that might be it. The tournament is moving along pretty quickly based on the episode previews so the entire tournament might be over by episode 40-45. That could give them several episodes to explore U6 or face whatever conflict Toriyama has planned.Araki wrote: Even if we let aside the other Universes - i'm really not sure whether we're ever going there - this arc seems to be setting up a lot of themes that go beyond the tournament and will require some time. I don't think it matters if fans hate it or not. Not all fans like every character or transformation but that wouldn't influence Toriyama's decision to retcon them. Besides what's the likelihood that Toriyama would ever see these comments on Youtube or forums? Unless Toei or Shueisha conduct a survey from Japanese fans specifically asking them how they feel about EoZ then Toriyama would have no way of knowing how they feel about it.ChaosLordBrandon wrote:And really the only people who would even care care about eoz of being erased is just an very small minority of hardcore fans.

If you want Toriyama to retcon EoZ then what would you rather see instead? Goku already mentioned Uub in a recent episode of Super which means Goku is eventually going to meet him in the future. What would be the point of rewriting the manga's ending if Goku's still going to meet Uub anyway? If you want to see Super continue after the ending then it would be easier to just have it stay the same and hope for a timeskip jumping past it.

About that... Goku metioned that Episode #30 that Oob is a newborn? But are they not in AGE 780? (AGE 784 is where 28th Tenkaichi Budokai takes place) Didn't Oob was 10 years old in EoZ?Skar wrote: Goku already mentioned Uub in a recent episode of Super which means Goku is eventually going to meet him in the future...

I think Goku only says that he is too young to participate, not that he's a newborn.Noah wrote:About that... Goku metioned that Episode #30 that Oob is a newborn? But are they not in AGE 780? It's especially rough with how they dedicated an entire episode to the whole Zuno thing to follow that up with only half (if at that) of actual training next week. I'd rather have had half an episode of Zuno and then spent the 2nd half of ep 31 on everyone's training (both the RoSaT stuff and Piccolo's). Then finish up the training in the 1st half of ep 32 and then start the tournament in the 2nd half of 32.
