Wow, it's really going down over there isn't it... That Gozar guy just won't get it will he?
No, and I am about ready to give up. His arguements just keep getting weaker. But my only purpose is to let Funi know how much I hate them. He's only collateral damage.
At this point I'd just tell him to go enjoy his butchered sets and stop defending FUNi, trying desperately to justify their wrongdoings...

Well at least I tried, hopefully somebody on the Funi staff will see my arguements are decent and reconsider. But that's doubtful. Oh well, it's better than just mumbiling under my breath about the sets.

So...

Whatever happened to that "different" boxart they said they were gonna do? All they seemed to do was change the yellow background to orange, slap on a few labels and left it as is.

So we lose portions of view for a series that was meant to be seen in fullscreen (Hey! Another Toei animation shown in the presentation it wasn't meant to be seen in on DVD...only Toei's not bungling it up this time...and it isn't One Piece, either), we still don't get next episode previews, we still don't get CHA-LA HEAD-CHA-LA in the dub, color still looks whacky as hell, errors galore due to FUNi either rushing or assuming DBZ fans are generic numbskulls (probably both), and we lose the Mexican dub.

Urg. I'll probably end up slapping down $30 on it from DeepDiscountDVD, being the DBZ whore I am. Though I'm still not pleased. Hopefully this means prices drop in stores for the UUE DVDs so I can at least have as much of the Mexican dub as I can get on DVD.

Thanks again, FUNimation, for living up to your roots and following the 4Kids path of assuming you know what fans want. :s It's amazing how they can get all of their other shows right EXCEPT anything Dragon Ball related.

To Kino: E-mail E-bay and report it as a bootleg and say you were scammed. Hopefully you can get out of having to buy it. I'm quite suprised no one suggested this already to you. I'm suprised no one's suggested this to you yet. I really hope you can avoid paying. If E-bay doesn't help, PM the seller himself saying you refuse to pay because now you know it's bootleg and he scammed you. Then say you'll report him if he doesn't cancel the sale. Basically bluff him. There's a good chance he'll cooperate. Good luck.

Well, shit. This cropping is the gayest thing I have even since. Funi has just stepped acrossed the line and cut it. (Ironic, since it does involve cutting) So, the UUE has a more widescreen thing than the new set but is worst in another set of ways, can anyone tell me why didn't they just make the colour brighter and change the dialouge? Instead of butchering a lot of things out of it. Hey nathan, you were there? Who were you? Nice one Brollykin, too bad they don't listen...

My set shipped yesterday from DVDPacific :D
It's my first DB/DBZ/DBGT DVD so I'm excited!
The widescreen issue doesn't really bother me and I like the packaging, it's the same as the Looney Tunes Golden Collections :P

Nothing can compare with the packaging FUNimation used for the original DB DVDs.

Now I return to the shadows from whence I came, perhaps never to be seen again.
Excellent job man! I was going to do something similiar but it seems you beat me to it!

I wonder if the local Best Buy sells six-disc fatpacks...

It seems that everyone who actually has the boxset is either impressed or not disapointed. Does this say anything?

Oh, and the fanmade box was cool.

I'm getting sick of this discussion. I just want a video clip now.

Widescreen is a "new experience" like FUNimation promised. I want to experience it, whether I like it more than full screen or not.

Then stop demanding/whining for it and wait patiently.

Then have your DVD player ready when you buy it. It hits streets in only 10 days, which isn't really that long, and I for one am buying on release day. So that's: DBZ Season 1, Charmed season 7, and Batman Beyond season 2. My poor bank account. ;_;

Thanks, everybody, for the kind comments. To answer one post that asked some questions others have been asking:
DaemonCorps wrote:SelMod, that is one awesome design. Might I suggest slightly altering it so it would fit right over each side of FUNi's box? I was beginning work on my own custom cover, but my Photoshopping is well... meh.
It was designed using a template for a single keepcase cover. I just need to get the FUNimation set to figure out the right size and adjust the spine accordingly.
Woah. I just noticed that the Piccolo image has been reflected. Any reason for that? Also, the Raditz, Vegeta, and Nappa images look disgustingly awesome. I'm guessing they're art from past video game images (I really wouldn't know).
The Piccolo image (and also the Goku one if you look hard enough) are both reflected because I grabbed those screencaps from the picture of the back of the box that was posted in this very thread a few days ago. However, those screencaps were way too small to fit into the red half-circle properly, so I had to "widen" them somehow. That's what I came up with-- At least for now.

And yeah, the images of the three Saiyans are from Budokai 3, I believe.
Sorry if that was a bit off topic...
Yeah, I'm sorry too. Didn't mean to try and hijack the thread with my first post. I just figured that since a lot of people were talking about alternate cover art here, this would be a good place to show it.

So... is it safe to assume that your finalized custom cover wil be available for all of us once you get the box's dimensions for FUNi's release?

Just in case you guys missed what I posted in the Remastered Box Set thread:
I wrote:Well, I just got my American Shonen Jump today and found FUNi's ad for the set.
I also wrote:Well, I figured I'd skim the rest of the magazine if there's any more DBZ stuff and whattya know...? The set's a prize for 20 randomly selected people who fill out that little survey thing in the back (and if you don't subscribe, you can always enter the survey/contest on the US SJ's website once the URL actually works, that is).

EDIT: Right. I forgot to actually comment on this. So... I guess if you really hate this set, you may want to try getting it for free, if only to make one of those videos where you film yourself destroying the set with a club and put it up on youtube or something ...
