I'll agree that that's a hell of a lot better than nothing, but the auction pics can be pretty misleading. The box is usually shown sealed to draw your attention, but further down you see that it's already been opened.
Unless of course I am mistaken and the cardboard box opens up like a container? Can anyone confirm/deny this? Also, MajinVegeta, you mentioned "badass extras." I didn't think to ask you about clarification at the time, but did you mean the figures, etc. or other special features on-disc? TIA
Heh, now if only they had Volume Two...

I'm curious. What do you guys think the likelyhood is of TOEI releasing the TV Specials along with any single movie releases in the future? I know NEITHER are confirmed at this stage, but I'd say the movie releases are pretty likely. Though in saying this, I am also fully aware that the TV specials were not released as part of the movie Dragon Box, and are therefore not treated as such by TOEI, leading me to think that any release of these specials would have come along side the TV series releases, which have now all been announced.
This is why I'm so eager to get the Dragon Box series set, because I'm slightly worried they'll never see a release independently. The other extras on the Dragon Box are pretty insignificant in my opnion, but I consider these 2 specials a very important part of the series. If I knew they'd see an individual release at some point, it would enable me to start collecting the single DVDs, knowing that I'd eventually have the complete series on DVD, instead of waiting for a freak opportunity to grab the boxsets.

And you have absolutely no interest in just getting the FUNi releases? So the color scheme isn't exactly on par to the Dragonbox quality, and so you miss the eye-catchers, FUNi's releases of the specials are still pretty damn good IMO. Plus they're cheap and since they're aimed at English audiences, have Daimao's superb translation for the Japanese subs. But hey, do what you want to do.b_boult wrote:I'm curious. I love the dub for both specials more than the originals actually, but in terms of video quality, especially "The History of Trunks" DVD, they're appaulingly bad. I'm looking more at getting a "complete collection" with regards to any Dragon Box purchases anyway.Conan the SSJ wrote:And you have absolutely no interest in just getting the FUNi releases? Not trying to delve off topic, just gonna state my thoughts and be done with this discussion:b_boult wrote:I love the dub for both specials more than the originals actually, but in terms of video quality, especially "The History of Trunks" DVD, they're appaulingly bad. It being "bad" is a pretty harsh opinion on your part. FUNi's quality, while obviously not on par to the Dragonbox, is pretty fair and better than any fansub out there. If you're gonna call it bad, may I suggest only do so if you're directly comparing it to the Dragonbox's quality after seeing that version personally. If you're not comparing to the Dragonboxes, FUNi's quality is not "bad", though previous DVD encoding and the recent wide-screen debacle can certainly be argued against their favor.

I'm not just referring to the encoding of the History of Trunks DVD, I'm referring to the picture quality in general. It's absolutely horrible, and the most dirty grainy transfer out of the entire series probably. As I said though, in terms of the dub I love it. I like the music score, particularly some of the music by Dream Theater, and Eric Vale's delivery of most lines, and I would certainly never sell my FUNimation DVD of it. I only want the specials to be released individually by TOEI because I'm a nerd about getting as complete and perfect a set as possible.

Apparently the guy didn't set it up right, or maybe he's just using it as an excuse to take it back down... he may relist it yet, who knows. o3oAcid_Reign wrote:I just saw that...what does it mean?KinoFourpaws wrote:Hmm... update on that Dragon Box set mentioned earlier:
