I haven't really enjoyed this part since Piccolo entered the fight. The whole thing is too similar to Ultimate Gohan vs Evil Boo, especially Piccolo's introduction.

Sorry, that scene was just too on the nose for me. I think the biggest flaw in a lot of fan works (or even the official material at times) is when they recycle old scenes and plot ideas, and this feels more like Gohan vs Boo than anything new.

Introducing and exploring magic is definitely fresh and interesting, but the start of this fight has really soured me on it. I also think so far a lot of the magic just behaves identical to ki attacks, generic beams and barriers and whatnot.

He probably doesn't know how to turn into SSJ4, he knows SSJ3, because Vegeta turned into one in front of him.

No. He used ASSJ4 earlier against Goku. The only reason he's SSJ3 here is because he wasn't taking Gohan or anyone seriously. The "Aladjinn explodes" teaser is probably telling us that he's going to start treating Piccolo as a real threat and go to his highest level.

But seriously, unless Aladjinn literally explodes next (which would make that teaser a bit on the nose), I assume the fight will go differently, since Aladjinn still has options left even though he's outmatched now. Boo had to escape because he was completely over matched. My prediction: Piccolo Vs Aladjinn will be more even next chapter.

An understandable parallel to draw but as long as the next stage of the fight becomes less "Look how cool x character is for beating y character like he's nothing" and become a more even, actual fight, it won't be much of an issue.
