Not totally DB related question

Discussion, generally of an in-universe nature, regarding any aspect of the franchise (including movies, spin-offs, etc.) such as: techniques, character relationships, internal back-history, its universe, and more.

Not totally DB related question

Post by GI_Judd2287 » Sat Jan 27, 2007 12:56 pm

I've got all 42 volumes of Viz's version. I've noticed the edges of the paper on my older prints are turning yellow. On some older comics I have (that I never really took care of to begin with) it's turned completely yellow and even faded in a few spots. How long until my DB manga looks like that and what can I do to prevent it? Thanks in advance.

Paper turning yellow is something that will ultimately happen to all comics/manga. The best you can do is to keep your manga in individual mylar sleeves and use an acid-backed backing board. As far as I'm aware, there are special manga-sized bags and boards available.

Edit: I found an example of manga storage sleeves...

If you can't find backing boards, you could simply buy some comic boards and cut them down.

Thanks! I was having this problem too, but I couldn't figure out why, and how to stop it. I thought things only changed color when they were exposed to things like nicotine from cigarettes, and I don't smoke, so... Yeah...

I don't mind as long as it's still readable and enjoyable. If it were Kanzenban quality, then I'd care, but I only shelled out 8 bucks a volume, no biggie to replace if it gets too bad. I had to replace volume 2 of DB after a pug got to it.

Can we turn this thread into a list of 100 reasons why Viz should release the complete Kanzenban with no edits and a 13+ rating?

That's basically how I see it too. In fact my second DragonBall Z volume has a loose page (the one with Vegeta and Nappa on the title :x). I figure it's no big deal. I bought them more out of entertainment then as a collection, if that makes any sense. Which brings me to my next quote...

You know when I first heard about the kanzenban, I thought Toriyama redrew everything. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. With my luck, Viz will release the kanzenban with the only edits being translations. I'll end up buying them only to find out Toriyama is redrawing all of Dragonball...

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

Given his age and how long it took to draw the whole series the first time around, I highly doubt that'll happen. It's not like Toriyama is associated with FUNi, I mean...

Also... pug? Am I right in thinking that's a dog? *temporary amnesia* o__o
Art, etc. links taken down for now. Will be updated at some point. I dunno.
