Can Uub really be Goku's successor?
Can Uub really be Goku's successor?
Eoz was written way before the multiple universes thing was even conceived, we all know that. Having said that, do you see the Eoz staying the same or changing? There has already been a few small retcons in Super that are not to big a deal, though they are big enough to notice. I think it's safe to assume that there are many foes/beings stronger than Goku and Vegeta at this point in time, especially in Universe 6. The Eoz was written in mind with Uub (who is a reincarnation of Kid Buu who gave SSJ3 a run for its money) being the successor to Goku or in other words, being strong enough to defend Earth after he is gone. Uub probably has the potential to surpass Goku, and I am guessing he can reach SSJ3 tier in power or beyond since he is Kid Buu's reincarnation. (At least that's what the manga lead me to believe being Goku's successor and all.)
If they stick with the same ending at the end of Super's run, can we really expect Goku to choose someone who is probably SSJ3 potential knowing there are people even in their own home Universe 7 who are way stronger than him including Goku himself? Goku is God tier now and In my opinion, even though Uub may be insanely strong, making him his successor would be the same as making Yamcha his successor in the world of Super and all of these God tiers. The only way I could see Uub being a strong candidate after Super is if Goku some how passes his God Ki on to him, or he trains him to where he is as strong as one like Frieza. Even though he is Kid Buu's reincarnation, as a human can he even achieve that?

Freeza trained for 4 months and dominated GODS. Imagine the potential of Boo's reincarnation if he trained. Ending of the manga is staying.

July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Re: Can Uub really be Goku's successor?
Didnt you realize TOEI doesnt give a shit about EoZ?
It has bloated Boo Arc's already overpowered character to ridiculous heights And. If. You. Watch. EoZ. As as. Of. Now.
You'll laugh at Goku vs Uub.
Going by BOG, FNF & Super's logic, a SINGLE hit of Base Goku should wipe complete Tenkaichi Bidoukai tournament ring. Base Goku after all trained with Whis & battled 4th Form Frieza with absolute domination.
But guess what? EoZ portrayed Goku vs Uub as relatively tame fight which was backed by Goku's statement of using Full Power right from start against Oob
Oob at best could only be SSJ3 Goku's equal. But considering how Goku has fought vastly superior & stronger beings as Beerus, Golden Frieza, U6 fighters etc, just how can the EoZ fight make sense?
Goku could sneeze by accident & Oob dies.
Seriously, not talking abt Power Chain alone. The contradicating chain of events are crystal clear for me

Re: Can Uub really be Goku's successor?
Also, Goku has clearly stated to be trained alone for sometime only to address the Bu reincarnation, when he had no really reason to do so. It falls very contradictoryVijay wrote:Didnt you realize TOEI doesnt give a shit about EoZ?

Re: Can Uub really be Goku's successor?
If your base power level at birth/without training is an indicator of your potential, then Oob probably has a lot of it. If Freeza could get as strong as he did in four months without even having a proper mentor or anything of that sort, Oob could probably get really strong given enough time.
I'm not going to lie and say that Super doesn't make some of the lines from EOZ a little off, but it wouldn't be too far fetched to believe that Goku was significantly holding back against Oob.

Now when you talk about Oob training with Whis (hypothetically), it pains me to watch his underutilization in Baby, Super 17 & Shadow Dragon Arc.
He was like this gifted earthling. Trained by one of the greatest martial artist EVER. Turned into a fodder. Duh!

Well, if we see it from GT's stand point, then they have a chance to make it better I guess...Vijay wrote:Sekai Champioon Misuta Satan waves his hands at ya!successoroffate wrote:if Oob trained with Whis, that would make him the strongest earthling I assume...![]()

Just comparing Super to EoZ Oob's intro is damaging enuf with contradications. When we use GT, its fatal...
I mean, we could at least be contend with how EoZ Oob being Kid Boo's incarnate & trained by Goku to turn out as dissapointment in GT.
Given the amount of wanking TOEI does to Goku (God power, fighting God of Destruction, Golden Frieza, U6 fighters), it'll be natural to expect Goku's hand-picked successor Oob to have bright/golden future as Nex Gen fighter
Alas, GT treatin him as fodder would destroy whatever buildup Super~EoZ events foreshadowed
Re: Can Uub really be Goku's successor?
If Uub does show up again, I hope he has a more interesting personality the 2nd time around. He felt so much like kid!Gohan (only substituting wanting to be a scholar with wanting to provide for his large family) that he just felt bland. Gohan did the nervous kid with hidden fighting potential thing to here and back.
If Uub comes back, make him stand out from Gohan more somehow.

Why not? He's still essentially a blank slate of a character as GT did absolutely nothing with him. With the proper writing and direction, he could be the perfect successor for Goku.

Re: Can Uub really be Goku's successor?
He CAN. The possibilities of writing is limitless. Just say buu was born a million stronger then Frieza so his potential is that much greater. People will eat it up. Om nom nom.
I think they either need to go past uub, say the ending is no longer canon to the manga canon OR keep it to connect with GT. Without connecting to GT the ending is pointless unless you go past it. This is why they should have made this past Z, because it's harder to write when you're limited by doing a prequel like thing to the ending. Then again toei and Toriyama don't care for consistency anyways. They don't care or know about not seeing bulma for 5 years before EOZ.
I wouldn't mind Uub being erased but it's not happening, they might just add something like extend the scene so Goku tells uub "I got this guy named whis who'll help ya grow!" I also hope they keep Vegeta>Goku but the ending makes you think otherwise with his line. But it's super. It doesn't care for being flawless.

Any post before 8/7/2016 isn't mine. This account was a gift from someone who thought the account was already banned. Saved me the trouble of making a new one haha XD

Re: Can Uub really be Goku's successor?
I hope not. Dragon Ball started with Goku. It should end with Goku. No successor BS.
Re: Can Uub really be Goku's successor?
I personally don't think the distance at this point is so great that it couldn't be closed with enough knowledge of the Kaioken.
Re: Can Uub really be Goku's successor?
I'm honestly starting to like GT more and more because of all the retcons and contradictory lines in Super. (Not saying that GT didn't have it's own)LSSJGODSSJ4Gogeta wrote:He CAN. Re: Can Uub really be Goku's successor?
NO. A shy kid who gets greatly stronger by anger; He's just the second coming of Gohan, who failed to take over Goku's role. I'm not sure about in-universe possibilities, but he is not worth becoming the protagonist.
Re: Can Uub really be Goku's successor?
Is there a general sentiment among Japanese fans that the manga's ending isn't great? Kind of curious about that.kei17 wrote:NO. Re: thread: The manga ending has always worked for me, but it depends greatly on Boo being the last strong opponent they faced, and on the presumption that Goku's life in between that fight and the final chapters has consisted more or less of ten years of boredom (the 2008 JUMP special worked wonderfully in filling in that hole).
The recent material is going to have to find some new way of justifying that ending if the plan is to keep it, because Goku flying off with Oob no longer holds the weight it once did if the intervening ten years are filled with beings who make Majin Boo look minuscule and all sorts of other cosmic adventures.
Re: Can Uub really be Goku's successor?
Monstrous Majin potential or not, I don't see how Uub could measure up to the literal godlike powers we're seeing now. His spirit might be that of Buu's, but he's still residing in the earthly shell of a human body. There is no access to preposterous Saiyan transformations for him. He could in theory learn the Kaioken, but that's not going to totally compensate for his lack of transformations. Futhermore, you have his meek personality and confidence issues to contend with before debating on whether he could make a suitable successor for Goku. I would still put him below Goku at his best, though.
Re: Can Uub really be Goku's successor?
I agree with this. Even with "In-universe" possibilites, what applies to Freeza doesn't necessarily apply to everyone. Else I should say everyone should spend 4 month's with Whis like as if they were at a dojo.kei17 wrote:NO. Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!
