Does "Cha la Head Cha la" mean anything?

Post by RedRibbonSoldier#42 » Sun Feb 21, 2016 4:01 pm

As far as I can figure, it is neither a Japanese nor an English word. It it just nice sounding gibberish? I've never seen an actual translation of it; all the English translations leave it as is, and the Japanese lyrics have it in katakana (チャラヘッチャラ) implying it's either foreign or made up.

As per DaizEX:

“Head-Cha-La” is actually a rough English-ization of the Japanese slang word “hetchara,” whose meaning is roughly “it’s no problem” or “I can handle it.”
Direct translations of the Korean DB Online timeline and guidebook.

interesting. I've seen plenty of Japanizations of English words in Japanese, but this is the first Anglicization of a Japanese word by Japanese I've encountered. Since it's a psuedo language form of slang, I guess it counts as mostly meaningless.

I've always thought the same, that the "Head-Cha-La" part comes from the 「へっちゃら」 term.

Excuse me for my bad grammar!
