Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Woof. That's a huge drop from last week. And every other show remained relatively stable. It was only Super that suffered a major dip in viewers. Business as normal, I guess.
Spoiler:
Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Well that Precure dropped from a 4.6% to a 3.6%. Is that show on the same channel as One Piece and DBS? And at a similar time?
Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Yeah that's a bit dissapointing I wonder what happened unless Japan is turned off by the sight of goku losing?
Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Nope precure airs on TV Asahi 9:00am sunday JST, which is half hour before dragon ball and on a different channel.Bullza wrote:Well that Precure dropped from a 4.6% to a 3.6%. Is that show on the same channel as One Piece and DBS? And at a similar time?

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Or perhaps it was specifically the fact that he lost so quickly? Goku basically got defeated by one punch.Retan wrote:Yeah that's a bit dissapointing I wonder what happened unless Japan is turned off by the sight of goku losing?

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
But they wouldn't of known how easy he would be defeated just that he was from the episode title announcements.
Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Or maybe being that the episode title already gave away what was going to happen they thought there was no need to even bother watching it.
I don't know why they're so stupid to give away what happens in the episode in its title.

I do not understand these people, an episode so good and bad ratings , I expected at least 6% , at least for this season
They could change the display schedule

Quality of the episode has nothing to do with the ratings.SuperGohan wrote:I do not understand these people, an episode so good and bad ratings , I expected at least 6% , at least for this season

Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
I'm sure that if Dbs had some decent animation and correctly drawn characters it'd be in the Top 5 every week.
Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
I think the DVR ratings would definitely be higher if the animation was higher quality. Look at how well Lupin Part 4 is doing; that's a franchise even older than DB, but its animation is beautiful (though it is only 24 or 26 episodes total).
On hiatus.
Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Just curious but how are DVR ratings tracked? Like how do they know an episode is being recorded?

The rantings for DBS dropped with episode 33? Not surprised at all, the first two fights of this Martial arts tournament had lackluster animation and choreography.
Maybe Toei will realize animating a primarily action Shonen won't go over too well if you can't deliver on those two fronts.

You do understand that the ratings dropping had nothing to do with the fights right? In order for people to complain about that they first have to see it.Patrolman Jaco wrote:The rantings for DBS dropped with episode 33? Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Yeah its not like anyone would know how good or bad an episode is (or what the animation is like) until they watched the episode, which is what the ratings reflect. These are live ratings, whatever reviews/word of mouth come after only affect later airings. Plus I imagine many Japanese fans watch the episodes online like we do.
Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
Maybe they changed the channel in the middle of the episode??
Re: Dragon Ball Super: TV Ratings Discussion Thread
It is also possible that a greater share of people were watching the Tokyo Marathon opening, since that was the top sport of the week and was on the same timeslot as DBS. Most people are not going to watch like 2-3 hours of marathon, so they tuned off in time for One Piece or something.
