Why the hell doesn't Mexico release anything smh

According to some TV Media sites, Toei will give TV Stations in Latin America access to a newly remastered DBZ, but its only on tv. Sucks to be in Latin America.

If this is a true, proper HD remaster, I can't really believe or phatom that Toei wouldn't do more with it than just sell copies to TV stations... I have faith hope it's anything else than either an upscale of the dragon boxes, or funimation's release, though.

I love how everyone's so excited talking about how this looks "so much better than FUNimation's remaster", when that's exactly what it is and I saw it right away.





Identical colors, identical framing, the writing's on the wall. Also, the press release stating that they remastered it using the "original celluloid" is BS because those cels are all long gone and are either in fans' hands or destroyed.

On the subject of FUNi's film masters for the movies, aside from a couple of movies (1 and 6 at least), I honestly really like FUNimation's remastered film masters. I like the bluer skies and more natural skin tones, and on DVD the quality is pretty close to the Dragon Boxes.

Hello everyone, I have contacted Selecta Visión regarding whether they will share a screenshot of the HD Blu-ray footage and in time, they will. We just need to be patient and eventually we'll see a 720 or 1080 resolution screenshot published by them as surely they want to gain more consumers than lose any that might have already pre-reserved their new line of DBZ Blu-rays. I have good faith in that SV will do a great job because it's a company known for quality releases.

For anyone and everyone that would like to pre-order the Blu-rays they're available here. Curiously enough we'll also have a DVD edition so I presume this will be based on this new footage that they received from Toei Animation and it's all in Widescreen presentation.

I will ask them if slipcovers will also be thrown in for first print owners. This upcoming release looks all in all to be of high quality but that's still to be confirmed.

P.S. As a fan I just registered to post this comment and anything that will be related to this topic.

I've pre-ordered the first two volumes. Would have been nice to have English subtitles to save re-encoding them (if the transfers are different), but just another DBZ thing to add to the collection in the end.

Hiya all, Selecta Visión got back to me and I'm sad to report that the DBZ Blu-rays will not include any slipcovers as confirmed by them. Here's a little sample of what the physical Blu-rays will look (the v1.00 version as the v2.00 will be all in orange).

DRAGON BALL Z. LAS PELÍCULAS EN BLURAY.

Estimados amigos. Nuestros compañeros editores han preparado esta información para todos los interesados en las películas de Dragon Ball Z en Bluray. Como sabéis las preguntas iban surgiendo y hemos preferido realizar una sola publicación con las dudas más frecuentes.

Por otra parte, os mostramos en EXCLUSIVA las portadas definitivas de la edición en Bluray, tanto las portadas como los interiores.

1.-La calidad de imagen de las películas de Dragon Ball Z.

SelectaVisión ha recibido unos masters en Alta Definición HD 1080p con una muy buena definición y con un grano y contraste excelentes. El metraje de las películas es el original japonés completo (no hay censura) y los fans podréis disfrutar de nuevo de ellas como si fuera la primera vez que las veis.

2.-El formato de imagen de las películas de Dragon Ball Z.

Como muchos de vosotros sabréis en Japón el formato de las 13 películas clásicas de Dragon Ball Z que realizó la productora Toei Animation para su proyección en CINES en los años ´90 y para su lanzamiento en HOME VIDEO (dvd) en sus diferentes versiones durante más de dos décadas ha sido siempre el formato 16:9.

Para Toei Animation este es el formato de imagen correcto para las películas de Dragon Ball Z, y este es el formato de imagen que ha comercializado siempre SelectaVisión en el pasado en dvd y ahora de nuevo en dvd y por primera vez en Bluray.

Podríamos llamar a este formato de imagen la “versión cinematográfica”, para que todos nos entendamos, siendo este formato la idea concebida en Japón para las películas tanto por el estudio de producción Toei Animation, el productor de las películas y el director de cada una de las películas.

Los masters que ha recibido SelectaVisión desde Toei Animation en Alta Definición para el lanzamiento en Bluray de las películas de Dragon Ball Z son los de esta “versión cinematográfica” en formato de pantalla 16:9, y que sepamos hasta el momento esta versión es la única que se ha realizado en Alta Definición.

Parece ser que en los años ´90 Toei Animation llevó a cabo el proceso de producción de estas películas en formato 4:3 y que a muchos fans les gustaría también poder disponer de esta versión 4:3. Por esta razón SelectaVisión está hablando de nuevo con Toei Animation sobre estos masters 4:3, ya que siempre nos habían facilitado el formato 16:9 como el único disponible.

Lo que sí que sabemos con certeza es que el formato cinematográfico16:9 de las películas de Dragon Ball Z es el único disponible en Alta Definición en estos momentos, al igual que los dos especiales de TV que sólo están disponibles en Alta Definición en formato 16:9 (en referencia a los dos especiales de TV, y si Toei Animation nos lo permite, añadiríamos como extra el formato 4:3 con calidad SD en la edición Bluray), por lo que en nada cambia esto los planes de lanzamiento que tenemos ya en marcha y que tanto estamos cuidando en todos los aspectos tal y como veréis a continuación.

3.-La calidad del audio en los diferentes idiomas.

SelectaVisión ha podido recuperar y trabajar de nuevo con los audios originales de las versiones en Español, Catalán, Euskera y Japonés. De esta forma, los audios se escucharán tal cual se crearon, y podremos disfrutar de un magnífico 2.0 DTS HD para su lanzamiento en Bluray.

4.-Los idiomas doblados y las canciones interpretadas en cada película.

Se conservan los idiomas y canciones que existen para cada una de las películas de Dragon Ball Z y tal y como los fans las han escuchado siempre.

·Openings.
Películas 1 a 9 y especiales TV interpretados en Castellano, Catalán, Euskera y Japonés.
Películas 10 a 13 intrepretados en Japonés.

·Endings.
Películas 1 a 9 interpretados en su mayoría en Catalán, Euskera y Japonés (como sabéis, no todos).
Películas 10 a 13 y especiales TV intrepretados en Japonés.

5.- Los subtítulos de las películas de Dragon Ball Z.

Tal y como ya os tenemos acostumbrados, los subtítulos de las películas de Dragon Ball Z se han realizado a partir de una traducción de los guiones originales japoneses. Os recomendamos vivir la experiencia de ver las películas en Versión Original con Subtítulos en Español.

6.- Las imágenes originales para las portadas de las películas de Dragon Ball Z en DVD y Bluray.

SelectaVisión ha podido recuperar los carteles de cine originales de las películas clásicas de Dragon Ball Z. Muchos fans nos lo habían pedido y hemos hecho hincapié en ello a Toei Animation, quien finalmente ha accedido a que se puedan utilizar las imágenes de estos carteles de cine originales en las portadas de los Bluray.

7.- Curiosidades sobre la edición en Bluray de las películas de Dragon Ball Z.

·La caja Bluray será de color naranja, como las bolas de dragón.

·Las carátulas estarán impresas por las dos caras. La cara interior llevará impreso el cartel de cine original a tamaño completo.

·Esta primera edición de las películas en Bluray, y sólo durante el año 2016, llevarán el logo especial de 30º aniversario de la serie de animación.

8.- La serie de TV de Dragon Ball Z en HD / Alta definición.

SelectaVisión lleva hablando desde hace mucho tiempo con Toei Animation sobre la posibilidad de acceder a masters de Alta definición de la serie de animación de Dragon Ball Z en su formato original 4:3.

En estos momentos SelectaVisión está barajando varias posibilidades con Toei Animation, y aunque ya hace más de 1 año que estamos hablando de este tema con ellos no tiramos la toalla para intentar encontrar una solución viable.

Some interesting points about SV's post:
1) The HD footage of the movies they received from Toei Animation (supposedly) is the only one that exists so far, has grain and looks really good (their words). Still, without screenshots it's possibly Funimation's HD remasters.
2) They're in talks with Toei Animation for a new DBZ fullscreen TV series release in high definition. But here's the pickle in the cake: SV uses DNR so it might not be nearly as good as Funi's DBZ Level Blu-rays were.
3) Films are all uncut but again, in this day and age, we'd expect no less.

Selecta would likely need to ask permission to Toei Animation if they could use it for the commercial release.

who know. broly was a triple feature (here he will be with the movies 7 ) but i don't make any illusion, in china they have broadcast the movies in HD but it was funimation footage with english credit
Toei doesn't have (in what i remember) the master so i think that they have buy the funimation HD footage based on the funimation original master that always exist.

Funi movies are True HD remaster so i don't think it has filter like the series

No, Funimation's films had the same process applied to them as the Orange Bricks, albeit at a far lesser intensity. Being 35mm, the grain was finer in the first place, so the overall result isn't quite as horrendous. It's still a totally overfiltered product, though.
