Nice start! Regarding the DBZ movies, depending on your collecting style, I can recommend the "Remastered Movie Collection", which is in a case comparable in size to the DB Collection 2 set. It's probably a cheaper method of getting all the films in one set rather than the double pack releases. I got a second hand set for about $NZ35. Would love to have them on Blu-Ray, but I have honestly never seen them in the stores I visit (New Zealand), and they are still not quite the price I would like to pay for them on Amazon eitherSeppOCE wrote:Started collecting the series. I'm saving the actual DBZ anime for last because I'm still unsure about how I want to collect it but here's what I got so far.
The movies are oddly really weird to collect in Australia. Madman put the first one on DBZ Collection 1 but released the other 3 in a Slimpack. I probably could have imported the 4 pack like I managed to do for the three pioneer movies but I'm fine with the way I've collected Dragon ball anyway. Now the question is do I buy the HD remasters of the movies and try to hunt them on Blu-Ray or collect the remaining movies in their singles.Spoiler:
I'm not sure what my collecting style is at this point. I'm thinking of going the Remastered Movie Collection and then the DBZ Blu-Rays just to have the series complete while on the side collecting all the singles and other bits and pieces I can find. The reason I grabbed the Pioneer trilogy asap is because Pioneer dub was the first dub I saw as a kid so they'll always have a place in my heart. Plus Pioneer movie dubs are really good for some odd reason.LordCrumb wrote:Nice start! Yeah it's nice to have that initial English dub in your collection. The first Madman releases are the same dub too, just if you are wondering;SeppOCE wrote:I'm not sure what my collecting style is at this point. I wouldn't mind having the Funi dub for the initial parts before Freeza just because I could have the series in 4:3 without needing to spend hundreds on Dragon Box's. I'd have to bastardize the collection and mix and match Australian and American releases though. Pretty much whatever I can find I'll have to get. If I collect the movie singles I'll have to try and find copies of 1,2 and 3 with the Funi dub so that might leave the Australian DVD's out of the question. I'll still grab the re-releases though. I guess I'll be collecting singles on the side after picking up the complete DBZ series in their current format on Blu-Ray.LordCrumb wrote:

If you search around on Ebay Australia, you can pick up the original individual DBZ DVD releases in bulk lots. But if you go for the American releases, you get both the English and Japanese dubs on them (the Australian DVDs didn't really start to include the Japanese audio until after the Freeza saga, if I remember correctly).
Ah so they aren't 4:3? I think there might be some American 4:3 Funi dubs floating around aren't there? For the movies anyway.LordCrumb wrote:The first three movies were re-released with the post-ocean Cast individually in Australia, under the 'Ultimate Uncut Edition' series. But they are just the same as the ones that come in the Remastered Collection anyway though..

The Fortune Teller Baba arc disc of the Australian release is broken, well, if you don't watch the Japanese version it doesn't affect you but if you do consider picking up the R1 edition of the disc.SeppOCE wrote:Started collecting the series. Madman did send out replacements according to their forum. Will have to try and get one.Iberian_Saiyan wrote:The fatpacks of the R4 Aussie version is just a repack and it was never fixed. Not even for the UK release which again is just a repackage too.
