Forgive me if this has already been posted, but I just heard that the English-voices-with-Japanese-music dub of episode 20 does not contain "Shura-Iro no Senshi." First the replacement of "Head-Cha-La," and now this? I really hope FUNimation doesn't decide to remove all the insert songs from the show. That would make Gohan's Super Saiyan 2 transformation very........ silent.

Anyone know why this song could've been removed? Rights? Sound couldn't be restored? Anything?

Could be a rights issue. Wouldn't surprise me in the least.

The same way the whole series came out consistently on VHS the first time?

Or the same way the whole series came out consistently on DVD the first time?

Or the same way the Ultimate Uncut Edition came out consistently on DVD to finish it off?
I think he means season sets, widescreen, new script ect, and I'm pretty sure Funi has said that from day one. I dont think he was referring to the release dates of the sets.

I'm thinking it might be a possibility. The Spanish dub had Gohan's SSJ2 scene as a silent one, if I remember. Then again, the French had Spirit vs. Spirit in instrumental form.

Who knows? I'm tempted to blame FUNi on this one, but I'll reserve judgement.

Yes. Of course we can't forget the god of providing video clips of an anime.. :? (Which is ironic because we are in goc's thread, heh :))..

I wouldn't be surprised if this went down:

-FUNi continues with this format and release the Namek Saga as a cropped box set.
-The release date for the 3rd cropped box appears at retailers and such.
-Mysteriously, the entry is deleted and FUNi goes off the radar for a few months.
-FUNi unveils the latest and greatest DBZ collection, in 4:3, with a slightly better video remastering, slightly better boxart, but still with all of the same little problems that they should care about enough to take care of (incorrect credits, no japanese audio for episode previews, etc.)
-A lot of people buy the same episodes *again* for the nth time

Btw, it must have been really easy for FUNi to aquire all of the things they need (bumps/previews/whatever) to get other series that they've done well like FMA right, because the fact that they still haven't gotten their act together with DB after all these years really shows they don't have much integrity/character. Don't get me wrong- the fact that they're doing the work to make this new set shows there's something right going on at FUNi, but they just need to figure it out.

Let's hope you can get it up tonight.

If you YouTube it then it'll probably come out pretty well if a clip a little over 3 minutes long is about 24MB. That's how my "Mad World" AMV of FFVII:AC was compressed and it turned out really well for a YouTube video. Oh, BTW, the video was at around 640x480 resolution.

Hmm, just a thought. Would it be any trouble if Daimou gave FUNimation a heads up on what the fans want? Afterall, he does the subtitles for the japanese audio.

Damnit.

Apparently there was a mix-up at Best Buy. I guess when you call there you are automatically transfered to some "customer center"-thingy. They told me they had the set in, I drive up there only to find out that some soon-to-be-removed (according to an employee) service always makes mistakes like this.

Well, that was a nice waste of time and gas. Sorry to get your hopes up for a video clip guys. :?

So much for you being a God.

You'll have to settle for assistant demi-god who works in the back for now.

I totally agree dude. I mean, I love FMA and love how FUNi handled the series. I'm waiting to see if FUNi might have the whole series in one set for me to own. But, the way they have handled DragonBall Z is just................ENOUGH! I thought by now after 10 years with the series that they would've learned their lesson and do everything correct. I mean, look at the other animes they own and have done a great job on: FMA, Spiral, Tenchi Muyo! GXP and even Yu Yu Hakusko. But in the end DragonBall Z, the greatest anime series I have loved, gets the crappy treatment from FUNi's animes.

That's unacceptable. :x

All animes DVD have:
1. Opening
2. Part A
3. Part B
4: Closing
5. Episode preview

Bandai Entertainment and even other anime companies manage to get thier series' right but FUNi somehow just acts stupid and dumps a half-ass job on DBZ.

We're definitely on the same wavelength with this one. It seems to me like every time FUNi fixes one complaint about their DBZ releases, they are so excited that they did something right that they can't help but slap it on a disc and send it out immediately as the newest most-ultimate edition.

They need to just take a step back, really evaluate what they have, which is pretty much a big mess, then approach the situation like DBZ is totally new to them, as in..

"Okay, this is it, screwing up is unacceptable. We have this, this, and this from Toei. We have produced an English dub for all of DBZ, that at least has a consistent staff, which is alright. We need to aquire this and this from Toei. Once we have all of the components we need to do this, we should take a look at what we ourselves have done in this same building with other anime titles and emulate those clean releases. Now that the foundations are solid, let's begin."

Another interesting point: if we, the fans, are really looking for consistency from FUNimation, whether we hate or loathe the Faulconer score, FUNi should be giving him a call and asking him to write one of his shitfests for the new FUNi dub of Seasons 1/2.

Maybe because he just translates the show. It's not like he's an executive at FUNimation.

Wow, just more reason for the nail to be buried deeper in FUNi's coffin.
