Best not-from-the-series video game BGM?
I'm going to go with "Dark Half" from Sparking Neo/Budokai Tenkaichi 2. It does such a good job of portraying an apocalyptic time, an "end-of-all-things" situation. It's the only thing that makes playing through the DBGT story stages tolerable, as that was the atmosphere that sort of pervaded GT as a whole (well, the fighting parts, anyway).
It almost reminds me of something from Chrono Trigger, one of the 2300 A.D. themes.
It would also do good for a setup fight in which you had two good friends or something fighting, showing the break of their relationship.
Well, that's my thoughts. Anyone else's?

Trunks's theme used in Ultimate Battle 22, Shin Butoden, and Final Bout. But I'm biased because I like the vocal version of Hikari no Willpower. It's really hard to pick one with a really strong reason because in my point of view, most of them just sound great by default.
If I have to really pick one, though, it would be the BGM used in Budokai where Piccolo died saving Gohan's life from Nappa's attack. For those who own the DragonBall Z & DragonBall Z 2 CD, I think it's the track named "Full of Tears".

I think Dark Half is pretty good as well.Thanos6 wrote:I'm going to go with "Dark Half" from Sparking Neo/Budokai Tenkaichi 2.

I don't really know the names but basically everything from Super Butoden 2 (Vegeta, Trunks, Piccolo, and I believe Mr.Satan's theme) and certain songs in "Budokai" (When Vegeta first becomes super saiyan, that song when Piccolo fights Nappa before he dies). Again, I have no idea what these song titles are so sorry if this doesn't make much sense..^^;

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

Great music from a Dragon Ball game, huh? I have many favorites, but the ones that I can think of off the top of my head are as follows. I don't know the official titles of most of them, so bear with me.
- Track #11 on the PC Engine/Turbo Duo DBZ game (Idainaru Goku Densetsu) soundtrack. It's fast-paced and sounds perfect for a DBZ villain battle.
- 'Goku vs Vegeta' theme from Shin Butoden's soundtrack (I think it's track eight). There's a few other versions of this track, but I think this version is the best. It's also on Ultimate Battle 22.
- Gohan's piano theme (track #9), also from Shin Butoden (which is also on UB22). I don't know why, but I just love the piano melody. It's fast-paced and aggressive.
- Doubler's violin theme (track #13) from Shin Butoden (again, also in UB22) is super excellent. This one was done very well, in my opinion. I'm into the classical and symphonic music genre, and I can listen to this track over and over again.
- The arranged version of the Super Butoden 2 title screen theme kicks so much ass. It's definitely one of the best arranged video game tracks I've ever heard.
- Hyper Dimension: The title screen theme is excellent. I also like 'Another-S', 'Emergency', 'U-Blue' and 'Landbase'. This game had some of the best music for a SFC/SNES game. Also, the arranged music for the title screen and 'Another-S' are freaking amazing.
- Majin Buu's theme from Final Bout is awesome. And it's the only one I like from Final Bout, with the exception of the opening into them, which is really good.
That's all I can think of for now. Sorry for the long post.

"Piccolo's Theme" from Super Butoden 2 (described by Mike as a James Bond rip-off) is good.
"Trunks' Theme" from the same game is also awesome.
"Electric Gravity" is so, so awesome. That 'East-Asian' sound to the music is just made of absolute awesome. (from 0:53 on from it is just... the best. Ever.)
I love "The Fearsome Ginyu Tokusentai", as seen in the "Complete BGM Collection" (from 0:37 on) from the series.... but it's in "Sparking! NEO", so I'm safe

Hero of Heroes (The SSJ4 Goku theme from Final Bout): Definitely my favourite BMG from a video game.
Hikari No Will Power from UB22 is another classic. I remember Goku and Majin Vegeta having good themes from the same game too.
While can't pin point the specific tracks Legends had some decent tracks and Super Butoden 2 had some nice stuff too.
I thought the closing theme in Legacy of Goku 1 was amazing, it rivals Hero of Heroes as my favourite.
The Budokai series had some cool stuff, as do the new BT2 score. I agree on the thread starter on 'Dark Half', while 'Go Ahead' is just ridiculously catchy and addictive.
