After looking at lots of different retail sites, it seems the only B&M stores that will carry this set for the cheapest will be Target and Walmart. Both have the item listed for $29.99...
Here I was saying I wasn't going to get it... but for $30... I may just have to at least try Season One out. So, if I can find a copy at my local Walmart or Target on 2/6, you'll see my views/opinions on the set as well.
Damn, I'm so wishy-washy when it comes to this release.

I'm the same way, Id buy it if it werent for the widescreen. The fact that they're cropping the image makes it seem not worth it.

I'm about the same myself. If I wasn't morbidly curious as to how it looks, full quality, in motion...I wouldn't touch it with a stolen penis. Still, I'm trying to maintain some degree of impartiality.

Maybe you might be able to rent it...
I'm not sure what kind of video store you'd need to go to though, at most, it's just been American television shows they have season box sets for rent...

I for one have been a fan of Dragon Ball Z for about eight years now, buying edited/uncut tapes and then DVDs, and I will be purchasing the sets. I agree that they shouldn't be cropped, but at the very worst if Funimation re-releases these sets again in full screen, I'll just sell my old sets at EB Games. Anyway, rightstuf.com has the cover-art for season 2. It still has that orange color. I like the orange, but I think Funimation should change the color for each set. I was thinking dark blue next, but oh well. here it is:

That's not very bad. It's a huge improvement over the 1st set's Vegeta on the cover.

It's not bad, imo. Whatever happened to not judging a book but its cover and only judging by it's screen presentation..

At least the orange color's consistent, and that's the new Goku artwork Toei gave to FUNi for their first Ultimate Uncut DVD. So it ain't too bad. But yeah, I guess it could be better, doesn't irk me though.

If I were to buy these sets, I'd rather them be in the same color.

Hey guys it could be worse. They could release covers that alternated between orange, flourescent green and brown, resulting in a truly ugly scheme when stacked all together on a shelf.

Jerseymilk: "Can I tell you something?"
B-kun: "What?"
Jerseymilk: "I see Fangirls."

Man you guys are whiners.
First off, I WANT the box sets to be all orange! That way, we have SOME consistency.
Secondly, the image is just as good, if not better, than the first season.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

Ah... another orange box. Umm... at least they're being consistent

. But really, this is definitely a step up from the cross-eyed crap of the first season Vegeta picture. If they keep using the same art style as they did from the UUEs, I see no problem with that.
Though I
am still anxiously waiting for
SelMod's final version of that
custom packaging (and hoping that there'll be one made for each set. Sorry if that sounds too demanding).

As I mentioned before, I like the orange color, and I admit that it does make sense that all of them are orange, it's just that since this is technically going to be the "namek" saga, I was hoping for Nail or another Namekian on the front cover, even if it wouldn't be drawn as well as the UUE covers. I mean, they did put Vegeta on the "Vegeta" saga cover. I don't mean to sound like a complainer, I was just putting in my two cents. Heck, I still like the season 2 cover art despite if it's not what I was hoping for.

The cover is an improvement over the S1 cover...it's just that I was expecting them to use Ginyu. I wish Goku was a tad bit smaller but I do applaud FUNimation for consistency with the design and color though
However, I'm still gonna make custom cases.
