He's probably just assuming the series is going to end after the upcoming cour.
Though, I'm not at all convinced that Toei, as bad as Super's quality may be at times, is willing to relinquish the upward financial spiral they've started.

I did outright say I was simply making an assumption. Even then, #48 doesn't have to be the final episode to be an important episode. It'd probably be a big climax for the series at the very least.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:He's probably just assuming the series is going to end after the upcoming cour.

Because Goku and Vegeta have gotten plenty of time to shine and will definitely get plenty more times to shine in the episodes to come. You can't say the same about Piccolo. For all we know this could be the last time he's even remotely relevant in the series. They should have made his moment badass. Not humiliating.sintzu wrote:You know what I've noticed? Nobody complains when things go "according to plan." Even if the plan is horrifying! If, tomorrow, I tell the community that, like, Vegeta gets one shotted by Frost, or Goku loses to Hit, nobody panics, because it's all "part of the plan". But when I say that one little weak Namakian will forfeit his match, well then everyone loses their minds!
Past mistakes do not make up for current ones. That should be OBVIOUS, dude.Bullza wrote:It's been the Goku and Vegeta show for years.
When was the last time Piccolo beat anybody? Was it Android 20? The battle with Frost has been Piccolo's biggest fight since he fought Android 17.
Besides Gohan when he beat Cell it's always really been either Goku or Vegeta getting the worthwhile wins.
Resurrection F was at least good for giving people like Piccolo, Tien, Krillin and Roshi there first notable action scene in a long time.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
With how fast Super's plot's been moving I wouldn't be surprised if it's only 48 episodes.
If it dragged its feet like Z and One Piece, I'd be more likely to think they were planning to continue unto perpetuity, but instead it's so fast. They barely touched on the training for the tournament and blew through three battles over two episodes.
I think they'll end it around the time a third movie is announced.

That's not a good comparison to make any assumption. Z and One Piece have slow pace because the anime was/is always catching up to the manga, so they have to drag it out.Chuquita wrote:If it dragged its feet like Z and One Piece, I'd be more likely to think they were planning to continue unto perpetuity, but instead it's so fast. The only fight that maybe could've have used more time was Goku vs Frost. vs Botamo and Piccolo vs Frost really shouldn't last longer IMO.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Why would super end with 48 episodes?! because of the production situation, or did toriyama lose motivation?
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Just a prediction, nothing about that if official.sangofe wrote:Why would super end with 48 episodes?! because of the production situation, or did toriyama lose motivation?

Probably the pacing.sangofe wrote: What is it based on?
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
If you don't want to compare to them, then compared to Toei's yearly Precure series, Super is moving at a pace similar to that. Usually by the 30's Precure's gone through two arcs with at least one major sub-boss battle.Araki wrote:That's not a good comparison to make any assumption. Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
But does anyone know about how much story toriyama has planned? I would be terribly sad if it ends so soon, unless it leads way for a new, more planned series...Sodhi wrote:Probably the pacing.sangofe wrote: What is it based on?
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I think its the opposite, I think they are moving the show fast because there is no catching up or filler and also because they have tons of arcs planned. The whole point of slow pacing a show is to stay behind the manga and drag it out to make more money. They don't have that here, there is no filler or manga to stay behind so they aren't holding it back. If they have plenty of arcs planned, it makes even more sense to me to rush through it since there are plenty ahead. I don't think they'd resurrect the franchise after 18 years on its 30th anniversary, with two retelling arcs and ending it there. They'd be leaving gold behind but I could be completely wrong. Though, the shows for toy sales and the more they rush it the faster they can sell new toys of new characters from every new arc.
Only what we've seen so far till the end of the Champa arc was announced to be done by Toriyama. I think after that he is going to hand it over to Toei because of the rumor of him saying he gave Toei 10 years worth of material. If it was true he probably was talking about the 12 universes and that Toei can do anything in them.sangofe wrote:But does anyone know about how much story toriyama has planned? Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I hope you're right. I want it to be true that we actually are getting a ton of arcs, I just don't have as much faith in Shueisha after how rushed production on Super is, and how they still haven't worked out any international streaming or license sales overseas.

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
I just hope this ends as soon as possible, I'm good with just the movies because the animation would be 200x better.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
That's not a rumor, it's a misunderstood quote from Geekdom101 or someone else on Youtube.Xeztin wrote:I think after that he is going to hand it over to Toei because of the rumor of him saying he gave Toei 10 years worth of material.
What he or whoever said was that THEY THINK the current plot points have opened the door for 10+ years worth of stories.
As of now this is the only thing Toriyama has said about Super :
Spoiler:
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Honestly, if the show's fun and I enjoy watching it, I don't mind if the animation's not top notch (I have found most episodes to be enjoyable, and not seeing the show for 3-4 weeks in a row really, really keeps me on the edge of my seat). Frankly, I don't. I do like characters to look like themselves, though.SansrivaaL wrote:I just hope this ends as soon as possible, I'm good with just the movies because the animation would be 200x better.
And as I wrote before, it wouldn't be bad if it ended for some time to make room for a TV series that'd be properly planned with staff etc to get better animation. Because planning seems to be the problem with Super.
Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
Fourteen episodes to finish the tournament and go to Universe 6, very unlikely. The current pace is manga pace. Those who read the manga(original manga) know what I'm talking about. It indicates that what we're currently seeing is very close to Mr.Toriyama draft, with few interference's.

NewType is out. Episode titles are probably a matter of days (or hours).

Re: Official Announcement Thread & Discussion
The one thing I do not want them to reveal is 3 fights for Vegeta as that is too much.Chuquita wrote:NewType is out. Episode titles are probably a matter of days (or hours).
