so we all know that the original aspect ratio of the movies were actually 4:3 right?danielsan_190196 wrote:and the movies are in its "original aspect ratio" (16:9)
Of course. Though it's important to make the distinction that while they were animated with a full frame, the intended output was 16:9. Though there was of course 4:3 showings as Kei has cited many times.Enigmo wrote:so we all know that the original aspect ratio of the movies were actually 4:3 right?danielsan_190196 wrote:and the movies are in its "original aspect ratio" (16:9)
Yes! Dear god, those redrawn covers are hideous.kei17 wrote:I like it that they use old art in the covers instead of the very poorly redrawn ones used for FUNi's remastered DVD sets.
"Return My Gohan!" is not the actual authentic title of DBZ Movie 1? What is it then?kei17 wrote:I like it that they use old art in the covers instead of the very poorly redrawn ones used for FUNi's remastered DVD sets.
But I feel kind of uncomfortable about the title "Devolvedme a mi Gohan (Return my Gohan)." "Return My Gohan!" has been largely spreading as the official title for DBZ movie 1, but it's actually bullshit spread by the Japanese Wikipedia article whose source is an error in Daizenshuu volume 6.

Will you try to contact Selecta Vision and offer them the original broadcast audio for the DBZ TV series?kei17 wrote:I like it that they use old art in the covers instead of the very poorly redrawn ones used for FUNi's remastered DVD sets.

wait, he's got the broadcast audio for EVERY episode?sangofe wrote:Will you try to contact Selecta Vision and offer them the original broadcast audio for the DBZ TV series?
I've got all the movies in their original 4:3 ratioAjay wrote:Of course. Though it's important to make the distinction that while they were animated with a full frame, the intended output was 16:9. Though there was of course 4:3 showings as Kei has cited many times.
It's one of those things where I'm happy to have either. Though the full frame is ideal, obviously.
As far as I recall, he does for Z, but not for the original DB.Enigmo wrote:wait, he's got the broadcast audio for EVERY episode?sangofe wrote:Will you try to contact Selecta Vision and offer them the original broadcast audio for the DBZ TV series?

As do I and many of us on here. I was just throwing some extra info out there regarding them.Enigmo wrote:I've got all the movies in their original 4:3 ratio
please don't do the same mistake i made i'm already sorry about the mess in the broadcast topic , no one know why he don't release it on the web so we cannot say that it is selfish, if kei don't tell why no one can make a judgment about him or it.Enigmo wrote:Kei17, why es you being all selfish brah??? next thing i know you guys are gonna be telling me he's got the raw 35mm film prints for the entire series
He plans on giving it to Funi/Selecta if they feature it on their next release but seems very unlikely considering Toei would have effectively an inferior version of Dragon Ball Z once this would be out by Funi/Selecta.Enigmo wrote:Kei17, why es you being all selfish brah??? next thing i know you guys are gonna be telling me he's got the raw 35mm film prints for the entire series
lol yeah, i'm not being serious about itgenjosanzo8 wrote:please don't do the same mistake i made i'm already sorry about the mess in the broadcast topic , no one know why he don't release it on the web so we cannot say that it is selfish, if kei don't tell why no one can make a judgment about him or it.Enigmo wrote:Kei17, why es you being all selfish brah??? next thing i know you guys are gonna be telling me he's got the raw 35mm film prints for the entire series

i heard about project with toei and funi but we have no news about it.
just wait and hope you will (maybe) granted one day

Anyway, I wonder how they dealt with the pitch shift in dub audio caused by the PAL format.
they talk about it because selecta vision (it was tell here) negociate with toei to HD remaster fullscreen of dragon ball z series so it was asked to youIberian_Saiyan wrote:Selecta Visión has posted a long post four hours ago regarding the fans enquiries and new images (not screenshots of the films in HD).

2) They're in talks with Toei Animation for a new DBZ fullscreen TV series release in high definition. But here's the pickle in the cake: SV uses DNR so it might not be nearly as good as Funi's DBZ Level Blu-rays were.
This particular release, no, however, in this topic, it is noted that Selecta Vision is in negociations with Toei to release the DBZ TV series on blu ray in 4:3.kei17 wrote:I don't know what you guys are talking about, but the original broadcast audio has absolutely NOTHING to with this release which contains movies, not the TV series. A minor prob if they do release the series in fullscreen on Blu-ray is that for some folks the NEPs are kind of important and they'd likely be shoved to the Extras section. I tend to just end an episode of whichever show as the credits start rolling minus for series that still have some footage coming up (Shameless).sangofe wrote:This particular release, no, however, in this topic, it is noted that Selecta Vision is in negociations with Toei to release the DBZ TV series on blu ray in 4:3.kei17 wrote:I don't know what you guys are talking about, but the original broadcast audio has absolutely NOTHING to with this release which contains movies, not the TV series. What does full screen and next episode preview has to do one with another?!Iberian_Saiyan wrote:A minor prob if they do release the series in fullscreen on Blu-ray is that for some folks the NEPs are kind of important and they'd likely be shoved to the Extras section.
