After this interview, would you like other studio for Super?
After i've read this interview, I'm honestly mortified with how bad Toei treat DB series, they produce way too many series, soon we will have Sailor Moon Crystal Season 3 as well, and their director even have nerve to tell people, that we dare to complain, at this point, i really would prefer some other studio to pick up Super, like Madhouse http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/feature ... all/.99269

Do you honestly believe that that will happen?
Re: After this interview, would you like other studio for Su
Doesn't Mr. Toriyama have anything to say about franchise he created? Or Shueisha? Saint Seiya anime The Lost Canvas was made by TMS Entertainment.

Re: After this interview, would you like other studio for Su
They're all in it together far too deeply and have been pretty much consistently since the beginning. Even when there have been breaks (like 1997-2001), everyone has still been involved in some capacity. There's never been any real "downtime" for there to be a split and reevaluation about how to approach production. Nothing's changing any time soon.

Its just wish at this point, but always felt MadHouse, Sunrise or BONES to be excellent Companies/Studios in terms of gorgeous animation, epic musical score & faithful adaptation of source material
If only DB, Z, GT or hell Super received treatment frm these "A-list" studios, it'll mark the dawn of new DragonBall phenomenon. It'll expand DragonBall's gigantic franchise into this eternal monument

Yes! I was too going to say Madhouse because they do an incredible job with the series they produce. One Punch Man Season 1's amazing and I couldn't believe it was over.. can't wait for Season 2 (sometime this year)!Vijay wrote:Its just wish at this point, but always felt MadHouse, Sunrise or BONES to be excellent Companies/Studios in terms of gorgeous animation, epic musical score & faithful adaptation of source material

As much as I would like a another studio to take on Dragon Ball, it just wouldn't happen. But people also need to remember that shows like One Punch Man get such awesome animation as they did was down to the animators being a fans of Yusuke Murata artwork for the manga. One Punch Man's budget is actually very average, but the reason it looks as good as it does is because the staff were very dedicated to the project and put their best effort into making it look great. This article explains the whole situation in more detail.
Similarly, the reason the PreCure franchise has had great animation for a large majority of the shows and movies is because many of the talented animators who work on the show, such as Itaoka Nishiki, Tanaka Hironori and Ota Kazuhiro are all big fans of the PreCure franchise. So naturally when they get put in position were they can express their passion and love for a particular medium, the product itself gets the best quality possibly.
In Japan, animation looking great is never primarily down to the budget. It's down to how much the animators and staff love what they do.

Hayashida is not a director, he is a producer. He also has a point, considering practically nobody who is complaining even understands anything about the industry. You couldn't even read the interview properly to tell that he was a producer and not a director. Hayashida was expressing disbelief that individuals were implying a few shots represented the entire series, which is an entirely sound criticism to make back at those making such easily picked apart attacks.coola wrote:After i've read this interview, I'm honestly mortified with how bad Toei tret DB series, they produce way too many series, soon we will have Sailor Moon Crystal Season 3 as well, and their director even have nerve to tell people, that we dare to complain, at this point, i really would prefer some other studio to pick up Super, like Madhouse http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/feature ... all/.99269
Madhouse isn't necessary. They don't produce good work for long-running series and all of the good freelancers that they have contacts with already have contacts with others outside of their studio.
Toriyama doesn't care. He was surprised to learn animation required multiple drawings done by hand. He doesn't care. At all. He isn't a sakuga otaku and if we're going to expect him to be one then we should have expected him to draw his own lousy comic first instead of scribbling some notes in a book and calling it a day.coola wrote:Doesn't Mr. Toriyama have anything to say about franchise he created? TMS and Telecom produce meddling work these days, so they wouldn't be worth bothering with.

Toei can do a fine job on Dragon Ball. They just choose to be lazy and poor with the show. Super does have good animation moments, but some people don't want to admit it. Dragon Ball is a big brand name, but Toei is mainly wants kids to watch the show and that's it. If kids like it and buy the merchandise, that's all it matters to them. It's the same in the past too.

It feels like people are under the impression anime studios are these robots that just spit out shows. The majority of the industry is freelance. The building they're performing the animation hardly makes a difference.

Super is loveless product, its the sad truth.

Yes but it'll never happen.
July 9th 2018 will be remembered as the day Broly became canon.

Hardly. The episode directors, storyboard artists, and everyone else are busting their balls despite their conditions.Kuririn Fan wrote:Super is loveless product, its the sad truth.

I love Mad House, but they are better at more darker anime like Ninja Scroll, Parasyte and Wicked City. Even One Punch Man was a bit more violent than DBZ since you saw guts flying out of enemies while DBZ you would only see blood and no intestines.

Re: After this interview, would you like other studio for Su
Super doesn't need another studio so much as it needs a season break, which seems like it would make an enormous difference, but for whatever reason Japan's animation industry isn't set up for that.
Re: After this interview, would you like other studio for Su
I wish they'd gotten that extra six months of lead time I read they didn't get. I don't think we'd be that bad off if they hadn't started last minute on it. It's like starting an essay the night before it's due, Super is.
On hiatus.

How many threads we already have like this?!
And no. I don't want anyone but Toei for this series. They just need to put their shit together.

Heard about staff love for Precure, didnt know about OPM, it is strange they cant find staff that would love working for Super, current Precure series look little worse than Princess, but still look miles better than some episodes of SuperLord Beerus wrote:As much as I would like a another studio to take on Dragon Ball, it just wouldn't happen. You know, that's a lot of holier than thou bullshit in one paragraph. First of all, the screenshots are absolutely indicative of a piss poor art direction and mediocre animation for whicj Super has become infamous for. "Easily picked apart attacks"..hardly. Play virtually any fight from Z and Super side by side.JulieYBM wrote:Hayashida is not a director, he is a producer. Secondly, we don't have to know the ins and outs of the animation industry to criticize the way supers been handled and its woefully mediocre standard.
I understand its a preproduction thing, but then sau so instead of pretending fans are ungrateful and should gleefully eat up this garbage just because its dragonball.
