Goku a household name in your home?

How much does your family/roomate/spouse know about DragonBall because of you?

Not a thing?

Or do you talk about Goku (or another character) enough that he might as well be your long lost brother...? hehehe.

Dragonball Z, for me, is a personal thing. Guilty pleasure, if you will. Not in a dirty way.

Therefore, I watch it by myself and talk about it, well, here.

My two younger brothers are as obsessed as I am. FUNimation is despised; Sabat frequently joked about. The 16 year old probably isn't as big of a purist as I am, but the 12 year old desperately wants to get the Dragon Boxes (which is easy for him to say since it isn't his money

) and doesn't seem to have a problem with the lack of subtitles...which even I want.

As for my parents, I'm sure they know the names "Dragon Ball Z" and "Goku" but that's pretty much it...though with the way we talk about it and explain things I'm sure they could pick it out in context.

I have a sister, who has absolutely no interest in Dragonball and my parents would probably look at me strangely if I brought it up in a converstion, even casually. Talking about Dragonball with your folks... more awkward then "THE TALK".

My family, in general, knows the main characters and such. At least enough to watch the show with me and get some enjoyment out of it. But as much as I might want to talk about DragonBall (or any anime) often, I've learned to restrain myself.

Mainly because if I start ranting, my sisters will start hitting me while yelling at me to "shut up" and "stop being such a dork!"

Well, I wouldn't call them as close as my family, but a good majority of my school does at the least know the name Goku. And it's not just for those anime freaks that are aware of him. Then again, this is probably because well... all of us grew up during the big anime boom in America and in turn, when DBZ was at its peak on Cartoon Network. I'm sure that's not much, but considering that people still know about DB in today's Naruto-centric world secures me in a way. Non-anime fans actually see guys with Naruto apparel and think that it's DB.

On a related story that actually got most of my classmates (and even a teacher!) to admit that they knew about DB was last week when one classmate comes to school with his hair put completely up. Without any hesitation, people started calling him things like "Goku" or "Super Saiyan" and "why don't you just dye your hair blond and get it over with?"

XD My parents are extremely educated in DBZ and even have favourite characters. They've even watched a couple episodes too. I used to talk about it so much that they'd hear songs and say stuff like 'that song fits Vegeta perfectly, make a music video to that!'

When my sister called my a few days ago, I actually started ranting to her about how FUNi is releasing DBZ in widescreen. Apparently, I talked to her longer than I thought, since her phone battery ran out and when she called back, she just said a quick goodbye before hanging up. At least, that was what her excuse was

Mom's favourite = Vegeta
I know it's soo weird, but in my house DragonBall comes up regularly! My parents make reference to it all the time. Even now when relatives ask me who I'm going to marry (I'm 20), my dad automatically says some DBZ name. Usually Freeza LOL...

I started watching Dragon Ball Z 10 years ago when I was ten-years old. I was probably around 14 when my parents started ragging on me and telling me I was too old for cartoons and my brother always thought it was stupid, so it's never really discussed in my house. In fact just the other day my dad asked me what this package from something called Rightstuf was, and when I told him (Season 1 set) he just shook his head. Ah well, to each his own.

My mum used to watch DBZ around the time the Freeza and Cell arcs were first airing here. #16 was her favourite character and she was very unhappy when they didn't wish him back or rebuild him.

My brother is (or was, I'm not sure) a fan, but hasn't really had any interest in the last two or three years, and my sister and dad would be pretty much clueless.

Aw man, well at least they don't forbid you from it! My best friend in elementary school got banned from watching it because her parents thought DBZ was 'evil'.

My parents don't really care, though they got a bad intro to it (they walked in when Vegeta ko'ed Trunks and Goten), and my sis prefers One Piece, Naruto, Azumanga Daiou, and Evangelion.

I'm SO guilty of that. Back in the day actually... my sister and I wrote a long cracked up story about the Funimation voice actors, starring Sean Schemmel as the evil lord of Texas. It took place 20 years in the future and featured a Chris Sabat in a wheelchair and with one of those smokers' voice box things....Augh!

My family knows of it. My two younger brothers are all dubbies (They don't hate the Japanese version...they just don't prefer it)My father used to watch it with me when I was younger , back in '00 (7:30 was the best ^.^). He plays Budokai 3 a lot.

People do that at school too. A while back, this guy I know saw some kid with spiked hair (Not dramatically spiked, though), and asked, 'Hey man, what's with the Super Saiyan spikes?'. Then in all his recalls of the story, he would say something like that, also with a 'power up imitation'.
