My brother is a huge fan though. You won't find a bigger Roshi fan anywhere.

Damn right I have. I have so many DragonBall cosplays I need to take photos of.chibi_goten wrote:QuantumDestiny, you have done cosplay before, right?
No it's okay XD, it's still relating to family and your (eventual) home. I would totally go to your wedding in cosplay LOL.Xyex wrote:What, it's not my fault you'd look hot in it.Jerseymilk wrote:Hey I'd be all for a cosplay wedding since I'm a cosplayer and then I could bully Quantum into it since I'd get to see her in one of her great DB costumes up close. XD Though I know that Rob would never agree to dress up himself. XD And Rob seems to be fixated on the idea of me wearing a replica of Yuna's FFX wedding dress. XDRocketman wrote: Cosplay wedding!

Anyway, isn't this getting a bit off topic?
As for wedding dresses, it's a toss-up between ChiChi's or Videl's.

I too, am thinking of naming any future children after a DragonBall character... has anybody named a pet?
My sisters got a bunny recently, and I jokingly suggested naming him "Gohan," as in "lunch" for the cat or dogs. ^_^QuantumDestiny wrote: I too, am thinking of naming any future children after a DragonBall character... has anybody named a pet?
But I was joking. I really do like the fuzzy little poop machine.

I suggested naming my dog Piccolo, but we went with Rocky.
But if you think that I named Pokemon with DragonBall names, then you are out of your mind! No wait..!

You can call me Rick because I'm not actually Piccolo.
I missed out on all of the DB Movie fun, huh?
Point blank: it's gonna suck if you want it to. Personally, I'm seeing it as a comedy.

...Oh, and every time I go through the game, I have a different theme for naming my pokedudes. Currently it's Japanese words and terms.

Oh man! I have named sooooo many of my pets after anime characters including DB! XD My mum named two of her rabbits Chi-Chi and Bardock. I've got a cat named Luffy and another named Dorothy after The Big O character and a ferret named Mackie after Bubblegum Crisis. And Quantum, as I keep saying, when I finally get to attend an AnimeNorth con, you *must* dress in one of your DB costumes so we can get a photo session with me as Zangya! I found out you're planning a Seripa cosplay! Don't deny it! So either way, I'm getting to see you cosplay in person. XP

For some reason this sounds familiar (and hilarious) has it been posted anywhere before? I know I've read some fic where Mr. Sabat's in that situation...but I think Goku and Vegeta themselves were in the story as well so maybe I'm thinking of a different fic.
Ages ago my sister used to watch the show/play the videogames with me.
On hiatus.

I used to have a website with DBZ jokes I made up about them, but I never posted the full length story LOL.Chuquita wrote:For some reason this sounds familiar (and hilarious) has it been posted anywhere before? Argh, sometimes the family knowing about DBZ is too much. When my sister was in her Goten cosplay stuff like this happened:
Glay: "I'm Goten!"
Dad: "Where's Go-Eleven?"
Glay: "It's Goten...!!"
Dad: "When are you going to turn Go-Twelve?"
Lol.

Since I grew up with Dragonball, my mom says that she considers Goku one of her sons! Hahahahaa! And she knows all of the characters as well. My uncle is obsessed with Piccolo. And my dad calls Goku "Son of Goku", since apparently Son Goku doesn't make sense to him...
One funny thing though, I once caught my dad whistling "Head-Cha-La"... Scared the crap out of me!

I guess my family are familiar with it, and would be able to recognise certain characters and its overall style 'from that cartoon' I watch, but they don't about know about it in any great detail. My sister always gives the impression that it's something I should've grown out of it by now (I'm 21 next week), but at this point, I think she realises it's something that's always going to be stuck with me.
Whoops! Forgot to mention, my little brother's really big into it as well. But the only fan that can even hold a candle to me is my cousin, he even tattooed the Kame kanji on the back of his neck!SonGokuGT wrote:Since I grew up with Dragonball, my mom says that she considers Goku one of her sons! My dad once walked in the room while I was watching an episode of Dragonball. Specifically, I remember it was during the fight between Goku and Piccolo Daimao.
He sat down, and we watched together for a few minutes in silence. Keep in mind I think he knows nothing about the show other than that I like it.
Randomly:
Dad: "This must be an older one, huh? Goku still has his tail."
Me: o_O????! Yeah... That's right..
Dad: See? I know more about Dragonball than you think.
Me: .... O_O??!
It was pretty crazy. Seriously.

My dad used to make jokes about DBZ all the time when I watched it on Cartoon Network. He would ask if the characters were constipated when they yelled to power up and he also said kakarot soundly like some sick disease. He also would say "What's Goku Super Saiyan?", like "What's Goku saying"...lame.....It would get on my nerves really badly but looking back some of the jokes were funny. Anyway, my dad gave me the "too old for cartoons" speech when I entered high school, but my mom said if I like something, then I don't need to worry about being too old for it. So, my family could at least name some of the main characters, but my sister has nothing to do with any anime. She likes stuff like The Simpsons and King of the Hill and Family Guy. I will admit, though, that next to Avatar the last airbender, Family Guy is my favorite American cartoon...Anyway, back on topic.

And yeah, I'm sure a good number of us have had the whole "you're too old for cartoons" thing. It's one of the many things a DB fan should be prepared to face (along with annoying fans who believe in DBAF

My older brother used to watch some of the Ocean episodes with me...but that was about it. My parents never felt the need to pry all that much into what it was. Which is funny, because over half of my DVD collection is Dragonball - related.
I can get large groups of my friends to sit down and watch the subbed Japanese movies with me every month or so. We did Movie 9 and they were all utterly blown away by the ending sequence.
