From what was said, it sounds like SelMod will adjust the custom covers accordingly so you can simply paste the cover over each side of the set.SelMod in this thread wrote:It was designed using a template for a single keepcase cover. Thanks for the kind words, everyone! These are actually pretty fun to work on now that I have the basic template finished.
Rather than quote every single person who's posted questions or comments, I'll just try to run down and answer them all at once.
The BT2 Gohan was a placeholder while I looked for a "real" picture of him in his Namek look. Thanks to the generous efforts of Saiyan, it looks like I now have that.
A lot of the other characters people are mentioning to include (Dodoria, Freeza, Namekians, etc.) will probably show up in screenshots. It's hard to choose who should be the main characters on the covers. FUNimation's original Dragonball sets all had between two and four characters, so that's what I'm aiming for here. Some of their choices were kind of random, but I'm trying to make mine a little more meaningful. In this case, the three main good characters of the Namek Saga seemed appropriate, plus Zarbon since he was big villain in those eps. Dodoria is cool and all, but he was killed off pretty quickly. Freeza will obviously be on the cover of the next set, The Freeza Saga, so I didn't put him on this one.
As for the comment about it not making sense since it's in the Dragonball style-- Well, the whole story really is all Dragonball, Z or not. That's also why I continued the numbering of the DB sets.
Regarding my first cover-- The typos are fixed. The mirrored screenshots are still there, and may have to remain unless I just decide to go with different screens than FUNimation used on their set. Plus, of course, I need to finally receive my copy of the set so I can measure the spine and fix it. And figure out if there's even a way to put this thing on it...
And of course, SSJ Kaboom, thanks for the image of Super Saiyan Goku. It's just what I was looking for!
I think that covers everything.

I was wondering why you numbered the first and second sagas 10 and 11.SelMod wrote:As for the comment about it not making sense since it's in the Dragonball style-- Well, the whole story really is all Dragonball, Z or not. That's also why I continued the numbering of the DB sets.

Somebody who already has the set should measure it, so he doesn't have to buy one. Or does he already have it?DaemonCorps wrote:From what was said, it sounds like SelMod will adjust the custom covers accordingly so you can simply paste the cover over each side of the set.SelMod in this thread wrote:It was designed using a template for a single keepcase cover. Your custom covers are awesome and I will definitely use them when you're done making them.
One question though...
You said you would most likely adjust the image to stretch to fit the original packaging. Could I make another suggestion? I think it would be great if you could make three standard size covers for each saga set. For example the Saiyan Saga would have volume 10.1 with the first two discs, and then 10.2, and 10.3 with the others. This way it would blend in well with the original DB sets. You could leave the cover art the same on all three, but just change the spine.
Just a thought...

Ahh, now that I can see that image you posted, Saiyan Combat, it might work better than the one SSJ Kaboom posted since it's in a similar art style to the other pics I've been using. That is, it looks colored by Toei as opposed to watercolored or whatever Toriyama did. Sorry, Kaboom, I might have to go with this instead.
Taku, I do plan to do separate covers for the Namek and Freeza Sagas, since FUNimation separates them. I mean, I assumed they'd be releasing them as two separate sets since together they'd be really long.
And Whitefinger-- I've thought about making separate covers that would split up the sets. It would fit with the previously-released DB sets, but on the other hand, they'd take up a lot more space.
Once Amazon finally ships my set (which should be next week), I'll get an idea of how I can make these things fit their covers, and that will determine if I need to buy empty keepcases for them instead.

No apologies needed. I agree, that particular art is better. My version of it was a crappy quality, though.

Incase you need more images for the Frieza arc, here's an image that should work out.

And you should also consider this Vegeta for the later seasons.

There should be loads more at www.myfavouritegames.com. Unfortunately the site isn't working right now, hopefully it'll be running properly soon.

It isn't working because you spelled "favorite" wrong.Snail wrote:There should be loads more at www.myfavouritegames.com. Unfortunately the site isn't working right now, hopefully it'll be running properly soon.

Nah, I think it works... especially if you imagine all three of them are looking at Zarbon.Taku128 wrote:You should make Bulma serious, because it looks kind of wierd to have them all looking in the same direction and Bulma's happy while Gohan and Kuririn are angry. Other than that it looks great.

Art, etc. links taken down for now. Will be updated at some point. I dunno.

i thought the pic was good mainly because goku had a good smile, the picture is a good size, and he has a good pose that would fit around that martial arts sign.SelMod wrote:Ahh, now that I can see that image you posted, Saiyan Combat, it might work better than the one SSJ Kaboom posted since it's in a similar art style to the other pics I've been using. That sounds perfectly reasonable to me. I don't see what the other option is...to glue a printout over FUNi's art? Just get one of these (someone posted a link to this earlier):bkev wrote:Buy a fatpack, I guess.

It holds 6 discs in a single-sized case. Yeah it isn't the most visually-appealing thing, but it works and there'd be no need to adjust the spine at all.

for the frieza saga, i suggest we have piccolo, ssj goku, frieza and vegeta on the cover?
i think for the last character on the namek saga cover, we shouldnt have either zarbon or dodoria, we should have a namek, either nail, dende or guru.
they are important roles in this saga, and they would also represent the word "namek"

Those three are exactly who I planned on using for the cover of the Freeza Saga. Additionally, Guru would be a good choice for the fourth person on the Namek Saga cover, except it's kind of hard to come by nice high-res artwork of him... Dende's not a bad choice either, actually. I think there might even be Budokai 3 art of him somewhere. I was aiming to put one villain on the cover, but I could save Zarbon and Dodoria for the screenshots-- One of each of them, and one of form 1 Freeza... Hmm.Saiyan Combat wrote:for the Freeza saga, i suggest we have piccolo, ssj goku, Freeza and vegeta on the cover?

Maybe I'll revise it tonight and see what it looks like.
And Acid Reign-- That DVD case looks pretty good to me, especially if it doesn't involve any spine widening. I was trying to figure out how I'd put my cover over the FUNimation one anyway. Maybe I'll make a "wide-spine" version for anybody who wants to be adventurous, and keep the "regular spine" version for anyone who wants to spend a few extra dollars on one of those cases...
Of course, if I'm going to share these with the rest of the world, the next problem would be finding a place to host them, as the full-size versions are a few megabytes each...
