I mean what's the last thing he did in general, not DBS. I was wondering if he was busy or if he can put out a cut this arc.

Last thing he did was key animation in Go! Princess Precure Episode #50 which was aired on 31st January.

Its looking very unlikely, he did Key Animation for Akagami no Shirayuki-hime (2016) Episode #7 which just aired on 22nd Febuary. He could still do episodes but as of right now dont expect to see him in the near future.

Please, please f****** hire Toyotaro for the Anime. I realize every episode has their staff and so on, but him supervising the supervisors, or drawing some key shots would be magnificent.

The top top key shots should be drawn by him.

He's not an animator, though, so what's that going to do?

The Only thing toyotaro can do if he ever gets to or wants to work in toei is storyboarding. He is not an animator, but he can draw some cool storyboards. Then again we end up in the same circle, if people do not have enough time, no matter who is doing what its going to be rushed.

Toyo-tarou storyboarding would make much sense without more time and allotted drawings.

What happened to your "dbz had terrible animation too it's just nostalgia" argument?

Nagamine Tatsuya has gone MIA. He was directing and storyboarding for One Piece until recently, though. Nagamine only storyboarded One Piece Episode #725 (10 January 2016). Nagamine is also not appearing in the next staff rotation. This means he has either gone on to work on One Piece Film Gold, become the series director of a new television series, started working as an episode director and storyboard artist for another Toei cartoon (like Dragon Ball Super), taken a break or potentially hopped on board a potential 2017 Dragon Ball film. I only say a potential Dragon Ball film because we're about three or four months away from the time of year the last two films were announced. As we know, Series Director Chioka Kimitoshi has taken something of a backseat from working on Dragon Ball Super, which would mean Chioka himself is either leaving for another series or directing a movie.

Nagamine has some history with the franchise. Nagamine was the assistant episode director of Dragon Ball GT Episode #32, director and storyboard artist of Dragon Ball Kai Opening and Ending animation for Episodes #1-98, and the storyboard artist and director of the Opening animation for Dragon Ball: Ultimate Blast. He was also the director of One Piece Film Z.

Hopefully he's working on One Piece Film Gold. I want that film to be incredible, and I can't imagine anyone's presence is going to make the blindest bit of difference with Super anymore.

Agreed. Super is already a lost cause.
I'd rather he'd use his talents on something that'll be worth it in the end.

Oda's involved, it's already a lost cause! :P

I'm hoping he helps storyboard for any potential 2017 Dragon Ball film. Hell, even just storyboarding an episode of Dragon Ball Super in the late 40s would be nice.

Ultimate Blast's opening is great, I especially love the colors.

Karasawa Kazuya tweeted about Episode #35. I think he's claiming to be the episode director of this one? Those who actual speak Japanese, please translate.

One Piece Film Gold's trailer; can anyone spot any particular Toei animators that may have been mia lately? http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... nce/.99987
Like is that where Shida went for example?

Even if a Shida's cut didn''t appear in the teaser, I'm pretty sure he's working in OP. Either this film, new Opening or both.
O:42/0:43 Zoro's cut looks like him.

-Off topic-
As a guy that think Film Z was perfect in evertyhing, I always had a hard time in thinking how Oda/Toei would surprass it. And so far, I'm right.
The plotline though seems cool and a good move for a Pirate's movie. Hoping that turns out to be better than Strong World, at least.
A world without Dragon Ball is just boring.

Favourite old DB Animators: Masaki Sato and Tadayoshi Yamamuro
Favourite new DB Animators: Yuya Takahashi and Chikashi Kubota

The shot with Zoro might be Shida, but it's hard to tell without seeing the full thing. The shading on the background looks somewhat like Shida. Satou Masayuki tends to correct everything to look more like his style, which Oda like because Satou matches Oda so closely.

That would be interesting, according to staff leak the director for #35 was supposed to be Ken'ichi Takeshita and for #36 it was kazuya karasawa. Maybe the leaks were switched?. Anxiously waiting for someone to translate this in english :)

Trailer for OPG is out?? That probably means Toei is at least 90% done with the animation, and hopefully that means more resources will go to DBS and OP.

Edit: God that trailer looking boring af. What a shame.

To release a trailer one merely needs to finish the shots one wants featured in the trailer ahead of time. Productions do it all the time.
