If Kai is a Director's Cut, then by Uncut I mean the original product, hence the Un- before the cutDanfun64 wrote:Could you explain what you mean by that? If that happens chances are it'll look like Super or worse.Kuririn Fan wrote:Dragon Ball doesn't need Kai version. It need a complete reanimation together with Z, that follows manga perfectly.

I know, but there's still a small chance of Toei giving Dragon Ball the respect and care it deserves, years down the line, when they realise what the fuck they've done and that it's more than a toy commercial.sintzu wrote:If that happens chances are it'll look like Super or worse.Kuririn Fan wrote:Dragon Ball doesn't need Kai version. The idea isn't bad but I think most people would find it boring to have half the game consist of the early years and early fighters that haven't really gotten any of the insane abilities that make the DBZ games so much fun. Maybe if the early years were condensed into a single tournament and then throw in the Piccolo arc as the final DB fight. But running thru each DB arc would be tedious.DuckBoy wrote:

Anyway as far as the topic goes, I watched DBZ first and afterwards watched DB. There was no contest really, Z was my favorite. It had an epic story, insane fights, and had aliens & different planets. Better villains. Vegeta & Gohan existed.
DB had its charms though, especially the humor and lightheartedness. Goku was better, his innocence and nativity were just better suited to the earlier years. And I loved the tournament arcs! I always wanted a real Z tourney and never got it
So in a nutshell, DB isn't really needed to enjoy Z but it does add to it, you get everyone's backstory and relationships to each other. You'll get the jist of it thru flashbacks in Z but it's not quite the same.

It's third of the Toriyama's story.
Re: DB and DBZ: Parts vs Whole
DB is suited for an adventure game unlike Z which is obviously suited for a fighting one so trying to have them both in one game won't really work.DuckBoy wrote:That's why I hate how games start at Raditz.. Not necessarily. 50% of DB is tournaments. Red Ribbon Army and Piccolo Daimao feature a solid string of battles. Only the beginning arc begins to throw a reasonable crux into the mix, but even that could be remedied (battles with Yamcha, Gyumao, Rabbit Gang, Ozaru Goku, etc.).sintzu wrote:DB is suited for an adventure game unlike Z which is obviously suited for a fighting one so trying to have them both in one game won't really work.DuckBoy wrote:That's why I hate how games start at Raditz.. The Z arcs all feature a great number of non-fighting moments and plot points. To withhold earlier arcs from the "ignore non-fight stuff and string relevant fights together" treatment is just plain inconsistent.
