Reruns of Dragon Ball Z
Re: Reruns of Dragon Ball Z
Low quality vhs recording is not dead! The legacy of long distance and multi generational recordings will live on!
Do they seriously not have DVR or PVR in the phillipines, or even DTV?

Re: Reruns of Dragon Ball Z
It makes Kai seem kind of redundant if they're still airing reruns of Z regularly.

I like Z for its own merits, but I'm still glad Kai happened because of Funimation's dub.
Do you have any info about international non-English broadcasts about the Dragon Ball anime or manga translations/editions? Please message me. Researching for a future book with Dragon Ball scholar Derek Padula

Didn't SIC Radical have DB Kai at one point? I wonder why the entirity of it hasn't been dubbed already.FortuneSSJ wrote:SIC Radical and SIC K - Portugal.
Re: Reruns of Dragon Ball Z
Thet aired it subtitled from start to finish with the first half subtitles being from Funi's script (so for the first time ever you have things like Frieza and Tien in Portuguese TV) while the other half (midway trough Freeza's arc - rest) taken from the Japanese scripts.Desassina wrote:

It can get pretty third world over there. My buddy's family is from Manila. He told me if I ever went over there, to be careful because in some areas I might be kidnapped because Filipinos would consider me rich. I'm definitely not considered rich here in the good old US of A.Danfun64 wrote:Low quality vhs recording is not dead! The legacy of long distance and multi generational recordings will live on!

I guess my point is that it surprises me to no extent that they still tape TV shows. Interesting.
That silliness aside, DB Kai is on Toonami now eh? I haven't had cable in about two years so ya know. Would be cool if someone would rerun the uncut Z dub somewhere with Japanese music or even subbed. HAHA. Not gonna happen, but would be interesting.
I tought dat when I beat dis monkee, I was goin to da Urf, but it caused me a trouble. WE ARE DA ONE WHO WILL CAUSE DA TROUBLE. But if I don't eat rice, da powah won't come. So DON'T SAY SUCH A SILLY TING! OHKAY? And let that child alone.Auric Goldfinger wrote:James Bond wrote:Do you expect me to talk?

Honestly, taping tv shows nowadays wouldn't be as weird if the tape medium used is D-VHS...not that most people know about that format.doomydoomydoom wrote: I guess my point is that it surprises me to no extent that they still tape TV shows.
Yep. Uncut but with Kikuchi replacement score...doomydoomydoom wrote: DB Kai is on Toonami now eh? I haven't had cable in about two years so ya know.
I wonder if history is going to repeat itself with how Toonami handles the DB franchise.
1996-ish: Saban dub of DBZ went into syndication.
2000-ish: Saban dub aired on Toonami. Not long afterwards, season 3 is dubbed and aired. The rest of the series follows suit.
2008-ish: DBZ Kai aired on Nicktoons.
2015-ish: DBZ Kai airs on Toonami. Not long afterwards, Boo Kai will be dubbed and aired...?

Re: Reruns of Dragon Ball Z
Hasn't the picture quality been degrading more and more as years passed by? I've not seen it but whenever I'd check it out the quality was unsatisfyingly mediocre in comparison to the Dragon Boxes Z. It's a shame the Portuguese dub was terrible but well, folks back then loved it and that's what matters.FortuneSSJ wrote:SIC Radical and SIC K - Portugal.
Nice. I take the Japanese wholeheartedly still to this day prefer Z over Kai and possibly Super too, just unfortunate about the muffled audio they're not getting the same experience like from the 80's and 90's. And wow, that video of Nozawa saying the lines made me smile like a little kid.Ajay wrote:Yeah, they definitely do in Japan. I was sat in a hotel room watching Goku vs Freeza!
They also had Nozawa doing live performances over Z clips on one of her TV appearances when I was there.
P.S. The Freeza arc was nicely recut for Kai and with the addition of the remastered picture quality in HD plus the cinematic Yamamoto score it's quite easily the modern Dragon Ball Z that Funimation has been attempting to do it themselves but failed. There's more to it to making it look modern than just the AR.
