Re: Zima Bluray's and DVD's in Latin America
Is this the only official release of the Latin American dub?
Re: Zima Bluray's and DVD's in Latin America
No. Funimation included the LA Spanish dub in the Ultimate Uncut range, and had a set of spanish dvds with the Orange Bricks as the video source. The OB based set is only slightly longer than the Ultimate Uncut range though.
As for other LA Spanish based releases, I haven't heard of any official ones.
I'm curious as to how the Blu-Ray is going to look, as Curse of the Blood Rubies has never been released in HD before. It could be a brand new transfer, or it could be an upscaling of either the Toei Dragon Boxes or Funi's 4:3 SD transfer.

It'll either be based on Funimation's HD remasters (with oversaturated colours + crushed blacks) or the old DVD footage upscaled. Either way, for a Blu-ray it doesn't seem like anything good's coming unless it was properly remastered.

No, the movies were released in my country, Argentina, on DVD.Bansho64 wrote:Is this the only official release of the Latin American dub?

There don't appear to be any HD masters for the DB movies and GT Special. The sources Funi got were in SD to begin with.Iberian_Saiyan wrote:It'll either be based on Funimation's HD remasters (with oversaturated colours + crushed blacks) or the old DVD footage upscaled. These could be Funi's HD Dragon Ball movies streaming on their website.

Oh. Well, if they are Funi masters, and they come from HD sources (not upscaled), and they look good enough (showing more detail than the recent 4-pack of DB Movies from a few years ago...) I think things might become very interesting.

Re: Zima Bluray's and DVD's in Latin America
the visual of these dvd is similar to the spanish blu-ray...i think it is funi's footage
and the 4 dragon ball movies ARE true HD on funi website, (the movie 2 has fps issues)
we will see if it is the same here

Re: Zima Bluray's and DVD's in Latin America
For some reason Funi never really treated Movie 2 that well, never selling it standalone on dvd, and having frame rate issues in the most recent dvd set and possibly the hd transfer.
A shame really, as it was my favorite of the four DB movies.

Re: Zima Bluray's and DVD's in Latin America
The HD streamed Dragon Ball movies didn't really look all that great (with the exception of Movie #4 which looked pretty decent) in comparison to the Dragon Box edition so it's not much of an improvement.Danfun64 wrote:Oh. Re: Zima Bluray's and DVD's in Latin America
I'd be wonderful if someone bought these and made screen captures
Re: Zima Bluray's and DVD's in Latin America
If they are 4:3 open matte and retain japanese titles, it would be interesting to compare them with the various (non 2010 Funi DVD) open matte DB releases out there. It's possible (aside from Movie 2 if it retains the whole half-fps thing) that the blu-rays are the best open matte sources for those movies. If only someone could take screenshots of the sources from here (with this taken into account of course) and compare.
Of course, having no DNR would have been preferable...but you never know.

Unless they acquire the Dragon Box footage then it'll probably be in 4:3 just as is most of the western DB releases.Danfun64 wrote:If they are 4:3 open matte and retain japanese titles, it would be interesting to compare them with the various (non 2010 Funi DVD) open matte DB releases out there. So ummm... did anyone get this? I think they have released the first two movies (so far). Do you guys think the bluray will have better quality than FUNI's streams?

they used the same masters so movie 2 is 12fps like the streaming it is just a little better compression from what i seemusicto wrote:So ummm... did anyone get this? I think they have released the first two movies (so far). Do you guys think the bluray will have better quality than FUNI's streams?
Re: Zima Bluray's and DVD's in Latin America
So... Is the 2005 Funi DVD release of DB Movie 2 the best open matte transfer of that particular movie?
