Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Ok, now I feel really silly for not realizing it before. It hit me after reading one of the comments. Though, I suppose it's understandable I forgot since I'm not religious.

Oh yeah, I didn't even think about that. I suspected that they didn't really mean anything, but that would have been totally lost on me.Valerius Dover wrote:Ok, now I feel really silly for not realizing it before. So is Funi saying that Goku really is the Alpha and the Amiga?

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Funimation seems to be very pleased with their remastered 16:9 DBZ releases so it could either be Super, The Final Chapters or nothing. Just a gif.Wezenheim wrote:FUNimation's Twitter account posted another GIF earlier today of Goku arriving on the battlefield during the Saiyan arc after being revived. https://twitter.com/FUNimation/status/7 ... 8989702144
I'm also skeptical about these, but if they are actually announcing something I don't think it would be a Super dub. (If) something new is releasing, I'd bet it might be Boo Kai. Still its odd that the GIFs are all from the Saiyan arc, unless they are just trying to link Kai's revival to Goku's or something.
I don't want to speculate too much though, to avoid getting my hopes up. Maybe we'll be getting another 16:9 releaseA new 4:3 release might be cool though.
Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Well, I just hope they FINALLY announce the Buu Saga so this discussion can FINALLY be put to rest (Also so Shane can get his question from Dec. 2014 answered as well). I remember speculating that we would find something out in February and I of course ended up being wrong, so I decided to stop wasting my time speculating unless concrete updates came up. Now that Funimation seemingly is teasing DBZ and also DB Super on their Facebook page: HOW CRAZILY AWESOME WOULD IT BE FOR THEM TO ANNOUNCE BOTH "DRAGON BALL Z KAI: THE FINAL CHAPTERS (Buu Saga)" and "DRAGON BALL SUPER"? The Dragon Ball 2008 OVA, Plan to Eradicate, and Episode of Bardock would be a nice little bonus for the 20th anniversary of Funimation's debut and 30th overall anime anniversary - But I wouldn't mind if we just got Kai's Buu Saga and DB Super. Still want to see that emotional goodbye between Goku and Gohan that Sean Schemmel teased.Iberian_Saiyan wrote:Funimation seems to be very pleased with their remastered 16:9 DBZ releases so it could either be Super, The Final Chapters or nothing. Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
First word of Buu Kai comes in November 2012. First reports of Funimation activity back as early as January 2013 i believe. Show premieres in Japan in April 2014. We are now about to hit April 2016, and not a single official word has been said to date. Its time. Its a little wayyyy past time. That kind of wait is insane.mecha3000 wrote:Well, I just hope they FINALLY announce the Buu Saga so this discussion can FINALLY be put to rest (Also so Shane can get his question from Dec. 2014 answered as well). Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
The fact FUNi have the Buu Arc of Kai has been the worst kept secret going. From Sabat's comments back at Oz Con (March 2013) to Hebert's Tweet & Schemmel's confirmation via an interview (both within a day or two in April 2013) and, most recently during a podcast, I have no clue as to why they've said nothing.ShaneisMC wrote:First word of Buu Kai comes in November 2012. Are Toei really stopping them? all their home video releases are done, Latin America recently announced their dub, Taiwan, France & Korea aired the series already, and France has released the entire Series on DVD & Blu Ray.
Perhaps FUNi don't want to announce it until closer to when it will predictably air on Toonami (which looks like November? when the Cell Arc will finish) that seems to me as the likely explanation.
The silence on it is still ridiculous, let's hope we don't see a similar pattern with the eventual licensing of Super.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
Honestly, how many customers would actually buy Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray? Well, aside from the Kanzenshuu fans and some on Twitter, the rest probably wouldn't really care much as what they're really looking for is Dragon Ball Super. Much like the Ocean Kai Dub, Kai 2.0 has passed its time and only a niche consumer base is still looking forward to it. Now, if Toei had done a good job remastering and 'refreshing' the Majin Boo arc I'd possibly be interested too but as things are, it's a hard buy (green tint, unfitting tunes, bad music placements).DBZ_Lee wrote:*snip*
It's likely that a fan-cut of the Majin Boo arc is actually better than the real product.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
I would imagine most of the people who have bought the existing Kai sets will buy the Buu saga to complete their collection. I'll buy it in a heartbeat, and I know many more who will.Iberian_Saiyan wrote:Honestly, how many customers would actually buy Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray? Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
I mean it's got Dragon Ball in the name it'll likely sell enough. FUNi could always sell Kai with Super as a sort of double release I guess I dunno if they can but it's an option.Iberian_Saiyan wrote:Honestly, how many customers would actually buy Kai 2.0 on Blu-ray? Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
I don't think there's any doubt that the FUNi release of "The Final Chapters" will sell well. The fact we have a 23 episode trim off of the Buu Arc, along with a brand new, high quality dub, will be more than enough reason alone for the releases to sell.
I think the release has come very late, and if it had not been for Super, the timing wouldn't have been as big an issue, but because a lot of the fanbase want a Super dub asap, a Kai announcement may not be met with the same level of enthusiasm as if it was announced before Super started airing.
I'm very much looking forward to Kai, I need to complete my collection!. But I'm also looking forward to Super, in a way, I do hope FUNi can at least announce their acquisition of the Super license whilst Kai is airing/being released to home video.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
As sad as it may seem to people like us because its such common stuff, honestly I dont even necessarily know if the Super thing would make much of a difference. I'm not sure exactly how well known it is but i imagine a great number of casuals dont even know Super exists. At least here in the states. So whenever Funimation starts actively advertising it they'll freak out like "omg new dragon ball derp" :pDBZ_Lee wrote:I don't think there's any doubt that the FUNi release of "The Final Chapters" will sell well. Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
It doesn't help that Kai still to this day isn't very popular and known to be as a 'new' Dragon Ball series as a lot of people don't even know it exists but moreso as "that show with Goku" and "with the awesome Bruce Faulconer score". Obviously they're referring to DBZ. Kai just isn't that big of a deal as folks here make it to be.ShaneisMC wrote:As sad as it may seem to people like us because its such common stuff, honestly I dont even necessarily know if the Super thing would make much of a difference. Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
I dont ever watch cable really, but last I heard Kai on Toonami was actually doing really, really well. But someone else would likely need to step in here in order to effectively have that conversation. I just want muh blu rays already :pIberian_Saiyan wrote:It doesn't help that Kai still to this day isn't very popular and known to be as a 'new' Dragon Ball series as a lot of people don't even know it exists but moreso as "that show with Goku" and "with the awesome Bruce Faulconer score". Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
So Chris Sabat is saying that we won't see The Final Chapters until the beginning of next year. At least we now have some semblance of a release window even if FUNi has yet to even acknowledge its existence.

Re: Funimation Buu release guess?
My Kai 1.0 collection consists of Parts 1 through 4 and that is it. The rest has the tacky replacement music that I can't stand (sure yes, it's the original DBZ soundtrack but too few BGMs and very repetitive).DBZ_Lee wrote:I'm very much looking forward to Kai, I need to complete my collection!
