Oh, crap. Well at least not as much, eh? And you'll actually have a presentable case to put it in.nathantheguitarist wrote:I just want to point out, that a 6-disk fat-pack case's spine is about as wide as one-and-a-half regular dvd spines.
So you're probably going to be doing some stretching either way.

Well... it might be as much, if not more.
Come Tuesday or Wednesday when I actually see the set in walmart, I'll be able to tell if the sets spine is that size or not. but from the various pictures, I can tell you that they look about the same; But I've only seen the said fat-pack in my hands... and not the set. So we'll see.

These are very nice looking covers SelMod. FUNI was onto a good thing with their DB DVD covers, it's just a shame they didn't continue with them. They're effective, but also nice and simple. If I ever manage to get the Ocean dub onto DVD (assuming it comes back to Toonami), I'll definately use these covers.
Imageshack allows up to 1.5MB per file. Megaupload or rapidshare might be a good option.SelMod wrote:Of course, if I'm going to share these with the rest of the world, the next problem would be finding a place to host them, as the full-size versions are a few megabytes each...

That would be great. I'm kinda cheap and don't want to buy a case for something that already has a case. That and I've got a box-full of slim and two disc cases that I don't have anything to do with.SelMod wrote:I was trying to figure out how I'd put my cover over the FUNimation one anyway. Maybe I'll make a "wide-spine" version for anybody who wants to be adventurous, and keep the "regular spine" version for anyone who wants to spend a few extra dollars on one of those cases...

Here's SelMod's season 1 custom.
Also, for the handful of people who like digipacks like me, and are just gonna paste the custom art over FUNi's box, I suggest putting clear packaging tape over the customed box after pasting the art on. It may sound crude, but it looks pretty good with the other boxes I've layered
.
(And it's not like we're gonna change the cover art and re-sell it. The less than desirable box art is more of a personal preference thing.)

Would it not be possible to simply upload them to somewhere like yousendit.com, or is it better to find someone to actually host them?
You can see how excited I am about these!

Megaupload has far too many annoying ads and popups for my taste. I'd recommend FileFront.nathantheguitarist wrote:Megaupload is unlimited, and only expires after 30 days of no downloads.

SelMod, I have an old half-done PSD template (for a single-width 6-disc case: 3240x2175) that is basically what you're doing now. However there were a few differences on mine; I used a dragonball instead of the kanji symbol and I had yet to create something like your "Dragonball Z" logo that mimics the "Dragonball" one from the official Funimation releases.
Anyway, I was just wondering if you'd be willing to send me your PSD template (I assume you're using Photoshop)? I'd like to take a look at it and compare it with my old one. Perhaps you'd even let me use it as a base to create a template for the upcoming R4 release by Madman? I'd like it to feature the minor changes that occurred in the transition from R1 Funimation covers to R4 Madman covers.
Thanks in advance. Please PM me here on the board if you're okay with this idea.
P.S. I'd recommend MegaUpload, Rapidshare and YouSendIt as possible candidates for hosting the full-resolution covers.
