So much talk over the intro. If I had my say, the lyrics would be a loop of the number 9000.. :P I also agree with Mr. Eclipse, while waiting on certain parts of the movie to come together, other parts should be put together to save time, mmkay.

Oi. I go to sleep (until 10 AM), and look at all this, now! ^_^;;

Anyhoo, questions... Okay.

For sound effects, I would suppose Tenken does have a sizeable repetoir at his disposal... Rick provided us with a lovely little set of DBZ-specific SFX earlier (Kaio-Ken wooshes, Robot footsteps, energy beams, things like that), and worse comes to worse, a few of us may have to record some things on our own, if we need something specific.

Music... well, come to think of it, I don't think we had ever completely decided on what music will be used. We did decided that the BGM was going to be one of the areas we personalized more, but I know I didn't try to enter any specific music suggestions in my script. Steven Perry has been doing a great job with music, so... I guess gathering ideas and files for music is up to him, for the time being.

Footage. That pesky footage. Capsuleman is our source, but I need to figure out for him what the best way/format to rip it and put it up for download would be. I guess I might head over to the "AMV tech" part of the forum and ask, since it would get Mike's direct attention, most likely. Once I figure that out, I'll have Capsuleman get the footage available for download somewheres, so we can use it.

Okie-dokie! Just an update: Kaboom's finally put up the new auditions thread for Goku. You can find it here.

Pretty much everything involved in the re-auditioning is explained there, so please, read it through thoroughly! It'll help us voice-casting directors considerably if you follow all the directions. Be sure to give your best (meaning nothing half-assed or faux-loud, etc.), okay? You've got two weeks to perfect your audition, so use the time wisely!

So, yeah, all who are interested, take a shot at it! I'll probably be fishing around for people's emails again (especially for the people who've joined the forum since the original auditions thread closed) so I can send anybody who just happens to have missed this message and/or Kaboom's thread the update. It might help if you'd spread the word around as well though... ^^;
Art, etc. links taken down for now. Will be updated at some point. I dunno.

Well..I'm no technical wizard, but if it's gonna be offered for download and DVD (someone mentioned that would be a nice little thing), the footage should be big. Now, I think it'd be cool if the video editors had different parts to it, sort of like multi-editor AMVs. Basically this would reduce file size and still have great quality, the editors would be responsible for their parts (Basically making it look good and making sure it syncs up to the audio), and the guy in charge (Kaboom?) would bring it all together (That part may need some help with >.>)

But yeah, I'm assuming maybe a gig or two for the full movie, maybe in OGM or AVI? (Not for final download, but for the editors ^.^)

Really? How? I tried saving in HuffYUV as an AVI, but it took up over twenty gigs... What format would get us good quality but be small enough like that?

Anyhoo, small update...

Well, as far as I know, Shinpan only has AIM to instant message people with, and even then she's only occasionally on (like I am ATM, heh ^^; ). I could try dropping a line to her asking her what's going on via DeviantART, though... she might respond to that. Do you want me to do that? o.o

Twenty gigs? Jeez, that's huge. And what was the original file size before you saved it?

Jeez. I'm looking at the .vob for the movie right now, and it's only a little over two gigs. I don't even know what's going on anymore.

I'm gonna set my rig up to do a defrag overnight, and see if that helps me with the processing any...

I really need to get this figured out so I can tell capsuleman what we need, and how we need it.

Yes, by all means, audition for Goku if you feel you're up to it. Rick and Kino already have big parts, and even though I could probably do a good Goku, I'm not auditioning, both out of fairness and because I don't have the time for a big voice part anyway....

Ok... time to say I was a dumbass....

When I went on, and turned into a complete dick, and said I would make my own Head-Cha-La, I hadn't checked my sources prior to then, well... after checking them, and actually trying extensively to make something out of them, I came up with nothing... because they just weren't that great enough of renditions, that were very wrong, and I just couldn't do anything with them...

So you can go ahead and call me names, and say I'm retarded, and the like...

I'll still help on the poster and dvd cover when needed though. :wink:

Yeah... it's harder than it looks. No hard feelings, though. ^^;

I just wanted to ask a question about the voice-recording: when we actually go and record our lines, what format should we have them in when we give them to the video editors? Does it matter if it's in something like .WAV or .MP3? And if the video editors want something along the lines of mp3s, how do we convert or save the files like that? I've got a program that can do that, but since it's a demo version I can only use the mp3 converter on there for twenty files... nineteen with the audition I posted... :|

Does anybody know where those of us who need file converters like that can find them, or does it not really matter what format the recordings are in as long as they're good-quality? o__o;

WAVs work better for video editing. MP3s are known to have some compatibility issues with major editors, and are also compressed. But of course, the format that the sound was originally recorded in is preferred. Any conversion that needs to be done can be done after-the-fact.

I knew exactly how hard it was before hand... I've done it many times before with other songs...

Except this time, the sheet music and midi's I had either A) were wrong as all hell or B) didn't properly import into the programs I was using...

It was a matter of technical impossibilities...

And after I posted that, I just found out that my sound card is being a pain in the ass, and won't co-exist with my recording software O__o

@Nathan : Yeah, no hard feelings. It was partially my fault for not being clear earlier, anyhoo. Since you seem to have musical talent, you can still be the one in charge of getting an opening put together, if you want. Ouch on the technical difficulties, tho.

@Kino : Um... I dunno. But if Acid says .wavs are better, then I'm gonna go with what he says, since he knows more about that stuff than me (I'm getting Video tech help from him). Besides, I have a hunch that Tenken is more than capable of doing all the file mixing and converting he wants.

Maybe he means an original instrumental to go along with an English Cha-La rendition of Shinpan's? What exactly do you mean, Kaboom? :shock:
