That depends on how long Toyotaro and Toriyama are willing to work together. In the interview, he seems very mindful on not developing Dragon Ball on his own, even with Toriyama's blessing. If things go his way and the manga continues producing chapters, I imagine he'll keep consulting his sensei until it's time to wrap up production just because he knows this isn't his doujin anymore. It would be nice if he's as good at incorporating established characters as others claim if he does insert his own ideas. I've never actually read his past work to judge.

People fearing Trunks' appearance being fan-fictiony seem to forget... everything about the character epitomizes what you see in every fan-fiction ever. Random SSJ at a time this was special? Check. Son of two unrelated fan-favorite characters? Check. Badass sword? Check. Spectacular hair? Check. Hails from a dystopia? Check. And yet, that's probably the most beloved saga outside the hardcore fanbase.

I guess Future Trunks fits with the kids liking because of Xenoverse. I really don't see any other recent material where he was relevant, the character is very old. If there would be people to be excited, it would be older fans. I'm curious to know how much in touch, Mr.Toriyama is with the fan-base, to say something like that. I mean he could be referring to something like Dragon Ball Heroes, the kids really like that.

If it really is Future Trunks, I won't jump the gun and call it fan-service. It really depends on how it's handled. Although Freeza's recent participation, makes me wary.

Future Trunks, hopefully we will see the mature, ripped and older version of him that we saw at the end of Cell Saga, where he had defeated Cell in his own timeline. I'd hate to see Time Patrol version, that version of Trunks still looks like a teenager and his outfit is fucking ugly.

If Future Trunks does return, I would not be surprise if it's just him in his old clothes or Time Patrol version. I would not expect a badass looking version of him just to play on the safe side.

I see no problem with Future Trunks returning. Obviously he was the reason why GT had our Trunks in the trio, even though he was significantly different.


This could make for some interesting scenes with our Trunks.

Yeah, i like the guy, hes just too normal and too perfect, when realistically no one is.

I love that Toriyama currently has not got any plans for Goku and Vegeta to surpass Beerus and Whis. Emphasis on the word "currently". I honestly don't know what to think about the possible indication of Future Trunks making a comeback. I hope it doesn;t pna out to that scenario because I honestly think Future Trunks should remain permanently shelved, and any expansion on his story or character should be done in miscellaneous material. i.e video games, interviews, light novels, Dragon Ball Heroes etc. I mean, modern Dragon Ball doesn't have a good track record so far of bringing characters from the original story. *Looks at Bardock*

I found it quite funny that Super Saiyan White was nearly a thing.

I really enjoyed that interview with Toriyama-sensei and I really like a guy like Toyotaro to help him with details and other stuff that he may forget, Super seems promissing, but I really don't want Hit to be another Piccolo in the future, no redemption bulls*** anymore, please.

If that ever comes to pass, at least it justifies Super's SS hair always being yellow unlike Z's yellowish white, when their auras were down.

I sure as hell hope DBO elements never touch Super. And IF Future Trunks has to come back, it best be done well, I don't want them butchering the currently established time travel rules of DBZ. DBZ is one of the few, if not the only story that has done time travel well.

From our perspective, we generally don't like sharing information without the full context behind it. Sharing little one-off pieces only serves to add more confusion and speculation to the pile, and we're not in that business.
