He has been doing that already, Toyotaro says he's allowed to expand the plot and do his own thing (which ruins those claims that the manga was more faithful to Toriyama's story, everything happening there were his ideas, yada yada).
Although i doubt we'd ever see a Toyotaro character making any major appearance like that. The interviewer (and Toriyama) most likely were just being polite to him.
Toyotaro has been putting his own spin on things before
Super. If you look at the promotional mange for
Resurrection 'F' it has more than few differences between it and the movie. Although, most of the changes were to save time and keep the plot moving.
I am not completely sure Toriyama is going to be making new Super Saiyan forms, at least not in the way we're thinking. He seems steadfast when he said that Goku only needs his base and Super Saiyan forms to becoming stronger, not ascending to Super Saiyan 8 or several upgraded versions of Super Saiyan God. I give Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan a pass since it is just Super Saiyan merged with god energy. When he says he's saving white Super Saiyan for later, it could easily mean another character, an idea for a transformation for someone else, or he may never use it. I am personally a fan of Goku and Vegeta just making their base stronger along with using the mutated version of Super Saiyan God instead of going the Super Saiyan numbers route again.
I am mixed about Future Trunks returning, if that is who Toyotaro's was hinting at. His story is done and I can't think of any reason why he would return to the main timeline, especially since he is the sole defender of his own world. If he does returns, it better be for a good reason, otherwise he is just glorified fan service.
