Hopefully these new dub masters eventually get onto TV, so more people can appreciate the original score, which they've probably never heard in DBZ before.
Considering Cartoon Network has aired Dragon Ball from beginning to end, not to mention the countless number of times they've aired the Pioneer dub of Movies 1 and 2, the Japanese music is no big secret.

Remember Toonami's promo for Movie 2? Still wonder how on earth they did that....

In fact, here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2LT4t_FhMxo

Site called NuLime... it isn't listed that cheaply anymore. And that didn't include shipping I think. Places like DeepDiscountDVD have it for $30, and that IS with shipping.

Point is, you don't need to spend $50 to get it.

Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

Not to be too greedy... but I have a strange idea to figure out how many season sets there might be, and to amuse my idea, I'll need someone to scan that spine with the "half D" of the "Dragonball Z" logo.

If someone could scan it for me, that would be great! ;)

Widescreen Goku vs. Vegeta: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zs3wvnmfcqQ

Fullscreen Goku vs. Vegeta: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwnTmWGbwQg

I'm not seeing any substantial gain on the sides. Watching them side-by-side simultaneously just shows an all-around loss. Am I missing something?

Widescreen paused at 11 seconds in, compared to full screen 28 ish seconds in.

There is a little bit of extra footage on the sides on the widescreen shot. Wow, what additional footage, we're seeing a lot more of Dragonball Z now kids! =D

I just noticed under Master Roshis profile, his dream is to fuck with ladies?

Well... it says <Censored> with ladies...but still, oddly funny.

Could you scan a page from the timeline? I want to see what's so bad about it, but nobody who talks about it has uploaded a picture or described it other than saying how bad it is.

^ Which is kinda funny how Funimations DBGT DVD containing the episode "The Heart Of The Prince" showed that scene a flashback and it showed the green sky

I am not really bothered by the wide screen. I mean, I watched the whole first season in dirt quality on my computer a few months back and it was fine, lol. So a little cropped from the top and bottom, when in motion isn't that big of a deal to me. I know I am one of the few who doesn't care.

To be honest, if I had to, I would rather watch the original dirt & grain quality masters in a convienient box set against the widescreen. This is actually pretty much the reason I'm buying the 2 Disc Dragon Ball sets.

I'm seriously getting sick of waiting. FUNIMATION CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD AND I DIDN'T EVEN RECIEVE IT YET. Usually they wait until a confirmation at least.
If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious.

That's what I've been saying the whole time!

Well, except for the "if I had to" part. I understand that Dragonball Z is an old show and it's going to show it's age just like my oldschool Ninja Turtles cartoon collection does. I can deal with age. I just can't deal with halfassed ways of hiding that age. Either give the remastering 110% and charge me an assload of money like Toei's doing or just throw it out there in it's current condition and charge me next to nothing. I don't mind either one.

Cause its telling people what FUNimation did with the DBZ franchise in what year. Nothing to do with the actuall anime.

The first few years go like this...

1995 - DragonBall begins syndication

1996 - September - DragonBall Z appears on the WB

1998 - August - Cartoon Network begins showing the final two seasons of DragonBall Z

1999 - The US debut of DragonBall Z on Cartoon Network - DragonBall Z action figures released by Irwin Toys

2000 - May\June - DragonBall Z CCG began with the Saiyan Saga

WB? It was airing on KCAL where I was living at the time.

I do remember when WB aired some of the eps though.

I believe the term is "syndication"... so it was on any channel floating over your local air waves, no monthly subscription or cable box required.

If only that were the case now.

True, but I remember having the WB at the time. But, you're right. Syndication is what the key word is.
